Thats the link to the audio of the interview

Former Patriots linebacker Ted Johnson said this during an interview with USA TODAY shortly after he retired in 2005.

"Every now and then I'd get a sheet, one hour before the game, with a list of audibles for our opponent," Johnson said in November 2005. "I don't know how, but they just showed up."

My comments - I guess now its easy to see how 38+ year olds that no other teams wanted like Rodney "HGH" Harrison and Junior "can you think of anyone less deserving of a superbowl ring" Seau were able to make plays..............its easy - they knew the offensive plays ahead of time.

How does a mediocre 6th rd pick QB, who barely started in college win 3 Superbowls (Tom Brady) - it's easy - let him know the defenses ahead of time.

Brady may have cheated, but he's anything but mediocre. Let's get real now.

A completely different quote from what was originally posted. I could sit in my living room watching game tape and take note of what audibles quarterbacks are using. It doesn't mean that my list will end up being 100% correct come game day, but I'd be shocked if every team in the league doesn't try to do this.

It is way different from saying "We knew what play was coming before the ball was snapped".

Too bad subsequent court cases have proved that Juventus never cheated

Let's pretend Italy and their government is the most up and up in the world too. Lots of powerful people pulling too many strings. When your PM is convicted of fraud and god knows what else you don't have the benefit of the doubt as far as running the cleanest nation in the world. The people who own Juve have some big time power so I'm sure their influence may have possibly had some type of effect on the court hearings.

    How about I rephrase that...

They were punished as if they had cheated because at the time it the facts seemed to indicate that they along with some other clubs were involved in a match fixing scandal.

I hate the Pats as much as the next die hard Jets fan, but to be fair . . .

    Since Spy-gate, the Pats have:

    1) Finished off an undefeated regular season (the only 16-0 season in NFL history) and came within one of the flukiest plays ever of finishing 19-0

    2) Won 11 games in a season WITHOUT Tom Brady and 12 or more games in every other season with him.

    3) Won 5 division titles

    4) Played in three AFC Championship games

    5) Gone to two Superbowls (losing both games in close, heartbreaking fashion)

    6) Been the winningest franchise in football

The only difference in performance between the pre-spygate Pats and the post-spygate Pats is that they were 3-0 in three close superbowl games beforehand and are 0-2 in two close superbowl games since.

For the record, it always bothered me that the NFL destroyed the tapes and I felt that the infraction perpetrated by the Pats warranted a very harsh penalty (arguably an even harsher penalty then they received - For starters, I thought Belichick should have been suspended for 1 season).

You do realize that Ted Johnson plays defense right? You also realize that the whole "spygate" was about them taping defensive signals right? You know Ted Johnson plays defense right?

People are ridiculous for saying that was a dropped pass, it was not a dropped pass it was BROKEN UP by Sterling Moore... Jesus, its so annoying to see people constantly refer to is as "the drop." It was a great defensive play, period.

Brady is great. Belichick is over rated however. If he didn't luck into Tom Brady, he'd be nothing right now, just like before he joined that team. People praise him as a great coach, but he still hasn't won it all without cheating and hasn't had a competitive defense in about 5 years. This spygate thing shits on him, not Tom Brady. Tom Brady IS the new england patriots. They don't really have any other big impact playmakers. Welker on any other team <<<, same with Lloyd. The Patriots that went 18-1 had a formidable defense, ranked #4 in the league. Belichick has failed at getting them near that status again, despite him being the alleged defensive genius. He's a joke and is riding Brady's coat tails.

The difference between Lance Armstrong winning 7 Tours and coming in second was a little extra oxygen in his blood. One other difference nobody would care.

Yes they are! And they haven't changed in 5 years. Just rehashing old news. Folks who want to believe it was a huge deal will continue to and those that don't won't.

Makes for a real meaningful discussion.

Teams "steal" other teams' audibles all the time. And they steal signals as well. The Patriots taped them, which is what is against the rules.

Ted Johnson was a MLB. Spygate was about stealing defensive play calls. Offensive calls have been radioed in for, what, like 20 years now?

Brady started 25 games at Michigan and played in 35, by the way. I'm not sure but didn't Sanchez start fewer games at USC?
