I have been betting on sports for about 9 years now and I will say that there is no such thing as a lock. I am guessing you are using that word lightly.

Home teams the past 3 years have gone(in week 1)

    11-5
    11-5
    10-6

With Pitt making them 1-0 this year.

    My 2 TOP plays are

    Rams +4
Jax -2(should be a pick em by game time)
Also GB/CHI Under 36 should be a good play.

Lock of the week . Raiders beat the Chargers outright. And one of the Manning Boys will win- and it won't be Peyton.

I believe you are in my Yahoo pick 'em league. If so, post your locks there, as well. I'll post my 3 best bets here and there later tonight. I call 'em best bets, you call 'em locks- same thing.
I would say those 3 picks aren't bad because I also took PHI, DEN, & CHI. However, there is reason to be scared about the Eagles. Is it a trap? Look at the Yahoo league- everyone took the Eagles, all 27, 28 or so people.

EDIT: Actually 33 people picked. (Four did not). So, 37 people there. That's pretty good.
There are still 13 spots remaining, if anyone else wants to join. ID- 374, password- grass

Don't understand why you'd like Oakland or Baltimore. San Diego is much better than Oakland is, and Tampa Bay is a playoff team playing at home against a team that was terrible last year. McNair is an upgrade, certainly, but he's nothing special.

    RE: the Oakland pick

Last year I was all over the Tampa Bay opener against Minnesota. I think I might nail it against this year, but I am less confident. That TB-MIN game last year was one of the easiest picks I've ever come across.

The deadline is before the first game for all the games? That's pretty stupid.

I joined, but I'm not interested in picking if I'm forced to miss the entire first week.

That's okay. In year's past I had the 5 minutes before each game deadline. What happens is nobody talks about the games beforehand. It's also for selfish reasons. I would wind up changing multiple picks between Friday and 12:55 on Sundays. I drove myself nuts with that last year. Treating the group like an office football pool is more to my liking this year.

You know what? I'm interested in having as many people as possible.

Nobody really posted about their picks anyway. I was hoping people would post things like, "I really need this Packers game. Only 6 of 33 people took the Packers and I'm one of them." I figured some people would maybe post a brief reason (like a sentence per game) for each of their picks.

Not the case. People just pick and that's it.

So I'm going to change the deadline.

Picks must be in 5 minutes before the start of each game.

I am simply going to have to control myself. Whatever day of the week I decide to make my picks, I must stay with those games. Like I said, I made myself nuts by wavering on average 3-5 games each week last year.

The other issue is Yahoo does not change lines after Friday. The DAL-JAX game is currently a pick 'em. That sucks for me as I took JAX and even have them as one of my best bets.

So everyone who still wants to join my Yahoo league, you can join and you'll only have missed the Dolphins-Steelers game.

This is a league where you pick against the spread.

    ALL CHIPS TO THE MIDDLE
    Cincinatti +2 @ KC
    NEXT BEST THING
    Atlanta +5 @ Carolina
    PARLAY
    San Diego -3 @ Oakland

Three road teams? Will it bite my ass?

    Probably.
