A guy who is entrenched in his ways doesn't suddenly change his ways. In the press conference Rex identified a reasonable weakness in his coaching, exacerbated by the on the field product. He promised to evolve and deliver an attacking offense that is equivalent to his defense. Guess what... we didn't end up with Cam Cameron. We ended up with a guy who has run many top 10 passing offenses. Rex made this decision, per Woody. Everything adds up, and honestly, it looks like a well thought out and rational decision.
No Abdul I was awake and while you watched with your green tinted glasses, I took mine off and saw a team who needed many things to go well for them in order for them to win and things did go well for them, FG missed by Chargers, HC of the Colts more inept than Rex, a Bengals team that continued their losing traditions, the only legit win for them was the Patriots. What I would like from my team and HC or administration is to field a team like the patriots, they don't need brakes to get into the playoffs, they pave their own way. I'm no darksider and I like the 2 hires of Idzik and MM, I think this will help us get to where the Patriots are, now it all depends on what they do in the draft. The last man standing is Rex, who I think is a glorified DC, now we just have to wait and see.:up:
Let me ask... would you agree with the statement that the teams with the 6 best records make the playoffs? Now, lets say you're right, and that the Jets caught a major break with Indy resting its starters in the second half. There were still three other teams I believe, who simply needed to win and they were in over the Jets. None of them did. So while I know you feel that the Jets didn't deserve their berth based on what Indy did, please tell me why one of those other teams DID deserve it?
The media is just spinning this to bash the Jets and guys are falling for it Tom Gamble was a great personnel guy but had limited understanding of the cap John Idzik is a great football mind, well rounded in every aspect but his title makes him seem like only a cap guy. If Rex has sex tapes on YouTube with Sanchez and Michelle, he might get fired. If Rex goes off on a bender and wrex his SUV, he might get fired. If Rex goes 2-14, even with this shit roster, he MIGHT get fired. (unless he can convince Woody that he tanked for the higher DP). If Rex goes 8-8, 7-9 or worse, he'll get the mulligan and finish his contract. The real question here is, how much of a mulligan is Woody willing to give Rex. He already has a built in firewall against being fired due to the change over on his staff and the roster. It's interesting that all of the GM jobs are now filled and Tom Gamble, one of the top two personnel guys on the market at the outset is the one left standing when the music stopped. Before anybody berates Woody on this one just remember that 4 other teams didn't hire Caldwell or Idzik either and none of them picked Gamble.

Edge, let me start by saying that I was happy the jets made those runs, what I don't like is that some of our fans act like we were the 91 niners, the jets struggled big time. I understand that others teams were not deserving but it does not make us deserving either. As I said, I want a team that is not the 6 seed anymore, I would like a team built to be 1 or 2 seed.
We're not going to have a 1 or 2 seed in 2-3 years. Let's start with baby steps of being a wildcard contender, then move up.
While I think all fans want us to be a consistent winner and not slide in through the back door, what difference does it make if our fans over reacted? How many times have we made the play-offs, that we must be so nonchalant about it. For three years, we've had to listen to the Jets get punished for making the 2009 play-offs. The Statute of LImitations is up on that.
