Since we set the bar as low as possible, I have no doubt that Idzik will be seen as the best GM in the entire history of the NY Jets. If losing two AFCCG's (back to back) along with 2 followup seasons of declining play on the field can get you a defacto blowjob from your boss after yet another dissapointing season, then there shouldn't be any doubt at all how successful Idzik will be for this team. Just remember that 8-8 is considered a winning, successful season in Jet Nation. We really don't have high standards.
Wow, disappointment must be entrenched within you. I personally would want to see how Rex does this year. 2 good years, two bad years. Will the good years define him, or will the bad years define him? This year will tell, and hopefully we make the correct decision based on that. My guess, as of right now, we won't do better than 9-7. But, things can easily change. We can find a diamond in the rough QB, and that changes everything.
If this team goes 8-8, Rex gets another 5 years minimum. He goes 7-9, Woody will let his BFF finish out his contract. Rex will not be fired no matter what the record is. This team has perhaps the shittiest luck with QB's in the history of the league so I don't look for any help there. So sorry, but the history of this team just doesn't suggest anything better than mediocre play from the QB position. I don't know what it is, but we just don't develop QB's and bad things seem to happen to QB's that come here from other organizations. I won't even guess what the record is next season because there's too many things not settled. Rex has the security of a built in excuse for failure next season and a Boss that sees no evil. Like I said. Since 8-8 passes for a successful season in Jetland these days, anything I get out of Idzik is upside. I don't have any expectations whatsoever regarding this team until I see something concrete on the field.
I-D-Z-I-K. Not Izdick or Izdik or anything that sounds like "is a dick." The poor bastard has enough on his plate already.
The press conference of course. But to a Supreme Homer like you, I don't expect you to see anything but greatness. So tell us again how great the Jets are and what a fabulous situation this team finds itself in. You and Junc. Two peas in a pod.
Thanks for confirming that you have absolutely no rational basis whatsoever for your ludicrous statement that "rex will not be fired no matter what the record is". I guess in your twisted version of reality, anybody who asks you a legitimate question regarding your absurd statements is a "supreme homer". :breakdance::breakdance:
I wonder how the tour of the stadium went, probably something like this........... Woody:Welcome to Metlife Stadium Mr Idzik, brand new only 2 years old Idzik:Thanks Woody i look foward to watching the games here. WoodyWipes off the dust and cobwebs)And on the left is our Lombardi Trophy from 1968 Idzik:What's under that blanket Woody??? Woodysounding surprised) oh you dont wanna see that, Idzikulls the blanket off and it's the NY Giants 5 Lombardi trophy's Woody: (takes off running crying screaming for Rex his now adopted son) Idzik:What the fuck am I doing here???
Please...what mess? Our cap looked a mess every year and Tanny was always able to get it to a manageable level where we could sign the guys we wanted. This off season would have been no different, there is plenty of dead wood to cut to get the cap in shape. When was there ever a time in Tanny's tenure that we did not have money to sign who we needed?
No. I wasn't. I was blasting that fuckhead for some time by then. That said, I will reserve my comment on this Idzik guy till I see how he handles the draft, FA and cap.
The Jets went to 2 AFC finals under Tanny in the last 4 years. Rehiring him in a different wrapper is a decidedly good thing. Wig is going to install the Paul Hackett O which from my recollection allowed Herm Edwards coached teams to reach the playoffs on numerous occasions. With the hire of Wizdick we should be fine.
I hate this hiring just a little less than the Sparano hiring, I still hate it though. I'm new to this board but I'm guessing a lot of posters here liked the Sparano hiring.
Guys, get a grip. Here's why Tanny is gone and idzick is here... Rex: since I've been here, I've been saddled with shit OCs. Woody, look at the numbers... Woody: holy fucking moley, Tanny you gave this guy 50 million dollars, and couldn't hire a decent coach? Buh bye. Which is why Mohrinweg was hired in tandem with the GM. Rex finally realized his CAREER was on the line and the gratitude to the GM that hired him became a matter of survival.
Everything I've read said idzik has very limited personnel experience. Do you have a link saying otherwise?
