JB, While as a general matter I see little point in cmplaining about other Jet fans, I otherwise agree completely with your post. For example, while not earthshaking news, it is news that a Jet insider like him who has cred said the locker room was not divided, that unlike the perception of 11 was united in working hard, and just did not have the talent level to succeed. That his take on it is shared by fans here and elsewhere is hardly reason to lambast him. He also was quoted, and yet that does not satisfy the haters here of anonymous sources. I would also add that in addition to his playing hurt last year, he still rated out fairly well according to PFF. I agree with those who compare his performance against his contract, and say he was overpaid. I also think it virtually certain he will not be back under the current contract. But he could be cut and still come back, if he wants to.
I agree 100% with what he said. Unfortunately, he's a big part of that talentless bunch he speaks of. Time to hang em up Bart
Bart has nothing to loose here, the cap situation means he is gone so as you said he was sticking up for Rex. I have no problem with it at all, that is why Tanny is gone.
Hell yea brother. And as someone else mentioned, Bart Scott was aged, not talentless. Plus a broken toe all year.
Quote? " he said his peace" I think there is a lack of talent in the newsroom, at the writing, and editorial levels!
I just don't understand the almost impulsive behavior of fans to constantly attack and criticize, no matter what is said, without any rational thought behind their attacks. nothing Bart Scott said attacked or threw any other Jets player under the bus, or absolved himself. he simply stated the truth that we all knew about the talent level of the team and asserted that was the primary reason why the team struggled. but what are the fans response to his statement -- ad hominems. not to dispute or disagree with what he said, but to simply attack and criticize him to invalidate what he said. that's embarrassing.
Well, I certainly try to be more selective in choosing which players to attack and criticize, and on I would hope a relevant basis. But that aside, we are in agreement as far as Scott and what he said are concerned. Not to excuse those who paint with too broad a brush here, but I take it I am less upset about that than you are. I think some of it, perhaps much of it, is some combination of a general unhappiness with the roster's talent level, and in Scott's case because he is somewhat overpaid. Less understandable is disappointment with his performance this past season, since it's not his fault he was hurt, and also because PFF has him rated not that badly despite the injury. But I don't think that means that his being overpaid, and certainly not a general unhappiness with the talent level of the team, justify posters here to respond to a rather mild article and statements by him with ad hominem attacks.
SMFH. Yeah, Bart's career is irreverent. His 1 poor season while suffering from turf toe defines him as a football player. Now I'm not saying he's in his prime or at that level, or that he hasn't slowed down but seriously... people just hate everybody. It's unreal. You can't blame him for being overpaid at the end of his career. Nobody will argue that he's not overpaid, but that doesn't mean he's talentless. Nobody stays in their prime for their entire career, every player ages and gets slower. To hate somebody or accuse them of having no talent because their body is worn with age, is beyond stupid. That's similar to saying that Sean Ellis has no talent.
Bart couldn't cover a TE with a blanket. A run stopper yes, but that's about it. All talk , not much walk.
Agreed. Yes the offense was low on talent but Scott shouldn't be the one saying it given his decline in play.
his decline in play in no way invalidates what he said so it is irrelevant. only players who perform at a pro bowl level can state that the team lacked talent? just f'ing stupid.
I'm not saying someone needs to be a current pro-bowler to make those comments but be shouldn't be flapping his gums with his own slapdick playing the past couple years. He's as good as gone anyway.
More nonsense. What does his leaving have to do with what he said and whether he is right? Don't people take courses in Logic anymore or are they not old enough to have taken them?
yea but he won't see the field as much regardless, Demario Davis deserves his chance, get these grey beards outta here give some young players a chance
He's already stating the obvious, when we knew about it during the 2nd half of the season that this season failed due to lack of talent. Either way, Bart has to go. The LB corps have to be younger, not older
