I'd be all for having Rob as our DC. Depends on the cash. But seriously, i'd rather us get a good OC.

It'd probably let Rex be more of a HC-GM hybrid and allow the Jets to promote Cohen to "GM" to work the numbers for Rex.

I could see Rob as LB/Assistant HC for a year if he doesn't land a co-ordinating gig.

The last thing we need is a DC with an ego as big or bigger than our head coach!

Let's sign the entire fucking Ryan family.

    Rex Ryan
    Rob Ryan
    Matt Ryan
    Nolan Ryan

Rob and Rex are too much of the same. There needs to be some sort of new ideas to bounce around. I suppose it's better than no one though.

I agree - he really should be. Also, I don't know how this didn't get posted in a thread about Rob Ryan being our DC :p

also, i would be happy with this team sucking ass as long as those two are belly bumping on the sidelines after an opposing player leaves on a stretcher. we will be 4-12 but ruin every teams season we face.

just for one year. then clean house and start this thing from scratch.

Not only no, but fuck no.

You need to bring on an offensive minded GM to balance out Rex.

You took one sentence and added your own meaning to it.

I'm not blaming him and I'm not saying he stinks. He's a serviceable DC. I even agree with those who pin the Cowboys downfall on Garrett and the offense, especially his play calling.

I'm saying he IS NOT a great DC. He's done decent work but nothing that says "Wow, we need this guy running our defense!" I don't see a guy who makes the very most out of what he's got, and takes the defense to the next level.

So you're saying he's better than Rex?

I don't care what kind of talent he's working with (And he has had some top players, Ware and Seymour come to mind right away), a GREAT DC makes his defense play better then the sum of the parts. I've just never seen that from Rob Ryan.

    Poor decision by Jerry Jones..

In terms of the Jets, i can't see Rob Ryan wanting to work for Rex for long.
if he came here at all, it would be a 1 year rental.

For that reason i'd stay the course and promote Thurman.
That said, if Rob was interested i would definitely get him on the D coaching staff. maybe Secondary coach (we have a big gap now) and possibly Ass't DC.
I'd like Rex freed up to focus on all sides of the ball, and a new coordinator like Thurman could use some help settling into the role.

Thurman is the new DC. He knows the system Rex runs, he was part of our most successful part of our d. And we need continuity on the d side to balence out the shit sandwich our offense will assuredly be.
