Most of the blame goes to Garrett. He blew at least 2 games this year with his clock management skills. He's a sub par coach. The injuries on defense didn't help either.

They gave up 2500 yards in the final 3 games. J/K

The truth is what it is. Rob Ryan is NOT a great DC. He wasn't with the Browns, he wasn't with the raiders, and he wasn't with the Cowboys.

Rex is much better off bringing one of his guys up and overseeing the D.

I might be aging myself with this reference, but all I can think of if Rex and Rob were coaching together is the fist fights Ray and Dave Davies (The Kinks) on stage!

I thought Rob had done an excellent job every year but one all the way back to his Raider days. I still can see this clip of him getting in the face of his guys on the bench: just keep hittin em, just keep hittin em. I can only assume it worked.

This may sound stupid, but I think Rob Ryan may be a tad underrated cause everyone overrates him. Your analysis is spot on, he's never had a top 10 D. I also think though, that you need to look at those Raiders and Browns teams he was coaching. They were HORRIFIC.

I think the numbers and stats would tell a very different story.

I think they're both smoke and mirrors....talk talk talk...you read Rob's quote after being fired? "I'll get a job in like five minutes.".... Pretty confident for a coordinator of a 19th ranked defense. Another loud Ryan hillbilly.....no thanks...

Rob Ryan inherited a Cowboys team ranked 31st on defense and had it at 19th in 2 years missing FIVE starters this year.

Jerry being a dumb ass as usual. Rob was making progress and got the rug pulled out from under him...(sigh).

Unreal. Could've been a sick D next year with all the players back and continuity in the scheme.

Yeah, let's look at stats and not circumstance. Let's not focus on the fact that those teams had no sort of discernible talent and terrible offenses that kept the defenses on the field.

I don't want Rob Ryan, but it's hard to place the blame on him when the teams' he's DC'd for outside of Dallas have been total black holes of talent.

Jerry would can Jimmy Johnson just for the heck of it - and that retard Switzer won exactly ONE more ring with the same squad. (Sure, aging issue got them later, but that's much later.)

I love Cowboys (and their scrumptious cheerleaders ) but I don't like what Jerry Jones is becoming - he is becoming the next Al Davis. (Just with different flavor, but Al Davis nonetheless.)

Have you forgotten your Jets history?

NY Jets in (52 Years) - 12 Playoff Victories
NY Jets (52 Years)- 5 AFC Championship Games

Rex Ryan (4 Years) - 4 Playoff Victories
Rex Ryan (4 Years) - 2 AFC Championship

Start over? Get rid of the 2nd most successful Jets coach EVER to hire an unknown?
That's a no brainer for you?

How about we give Rex a decent roster and let him take another crack at it?

Did he ever have players on D as good as Rex has had with the Jets and Ravens?

"I inherited a team that was 31st in the league in defense and made them better," Rob Ryan told ESPNDallas.com's Tim MacMahon. "I (expletive) made them a hell of a lot better. I'll be out of work for like five minutes."

Don't be foolish. Pettine and Thurman are a lot more than puppets to Rex.

Perfect. Now an embittered Thurman can become Manish's new anonymous source for 2013!
