Jets at Titans The Titans are in flux, especially at quarterback. Don?t be surprised if Kerry Collins and Billy Volek struggle, and the team decides to give Vince Young a try. This is such a young, struggling team ? Tennessee has a long way to go. The Jets will be OK, especially if Chad Pennington is healthy. He needs to show he can throw and stay healthy, and that will help open up the running game for Derrick Blaylock and Kevan Barlow.Pennington is a great quarterback and a great leader ? he deserves to have an injury-free season. I would hate to see his career derailed by injuries. Pick: Jets > http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3690072/?pg=16#anc_spt_novacek_06
If they are going to go with Vince Young I highly doubt it will happen in the season opener. We will most likely see Colllins and only Collins barring an injury.
If we stop the run and move the ball somewhat effectively on the ground, we should win this game easily. If we can't stop the run, they could beat us pretty badly. -X-
I really believe we win this game fairly handily. I am not impressed w/ Tenn. and I believe that we are underrated.
I think it's going to be Volek. Despite the fact that he's pissed off the coaching staff, Kerry Collins with a limited knowledge of the offense will probably be infinitely worse than Volek, who is pretty decent and, I think, getting a raw deal. Either way, the key is stopping Chris Brown and Travis Henry. Henry has owned us over the years. Dewayne Robertson and company are going to have to get the job done. -X-
Is it me? or does it seem like that was written by a novice football fan. I read it twice and it seems like something a 10 year old would write about the game.
I personally think the Jets SHOULD win this game. They should win this game because believe it or not, Chad is better than the other three quarterbacks the Titans have. Also, I truly believe that with even the 3-4 defense installed, the Jets defense is going to be better than most believe. With great coaching, great playing can prevail.
i'm a little concerned about the 3-4 right now, mainly based on what i saw in the preseason. granted, our first-team D didn't give up a lot of points, but teams seemingly ran with ease. personally, i think Mangini and Co. are way to smart and good gameday coaches that they'll allow this to happen in the regular season; i expect to see lots of the hybrid D, disguised fronts, attempting to compensate for the lack of personel we have along the DL. cheers
i agree...i think we should definently win this game, but it all comes down to coaching and whether or not our team can stay turnover free...the last thing we can do is help out the titan offense
I believe our Defense is good enough to limit the Tenn offense from running up the score on us. But, can our offense outplay their defense? I don't know much about Titan defense myself. Regardless if Chad is the better of all Tenn QB's, he's the only one that has to play against the Titan D. If we win, it will be close, like 9-7, or 13-10.
I think this game could show us fans whether this team can have an average season in a rebuilding year (think 7-9) or it could show us that even with Chad in, theyre gonna be in the basement of AFC East again. No one knows how this team is gonna look come gameday.
something i've wondered: should Chad start like he did against the Chiefs last year, and game begins to get out of hand, will Mangini pull him (not for the season, just the game) and go with Clemens or Ramsey? or will he leave Chad in to bite the bullet? the last thing anyone wants is screwing up chemistry and creating a QB controversy. but if Chad starts horrendously (which isn't out of the question -- he had a decent preseason last year, much like this year, and was terrible in the first game), will Mangini look to one of the others? cheers
My thought is that you leave him in there. He is far better than Ramsey. If we are having offensive problems, I doubt it will be soley the QB, it will be some other aspect of our offense that is killing us and changing QB's isn't likely to help. I also think throwing Clemens to the wolves early in the season, if at all, would be a mistake. Penny is out best chance to win right now.
i think i agree. i just remember watching Chad turn the ball over repeatedly. granted, some of that was Mawae's fault, but Chad looked extremely shaky. It seems like everyone should be shaky in the first game, so then maybe you go with the guy who is the least shaky. Chad never eased into that game and probably should have sat down at some point (in fact, did he at the end?) so yeah, you probably leave Chad in no matter what. but at this point, patience is wearing very thin. cheers
That was an ugly game with his bobbling the ball. That always seemed odd to me because he had never had much of an issue with it in the past and suddenly he had rubber hands. I think he's going to be ok, and hopefully the line will do a stellar job of protecting him.
