While many of us TGG members are complaining about the media treatment of the Jets, many of us (not me) are reaching the same ridiculous conclusions and making the same ridiculous statements as the media regarding the tatoo and the QB situation.

Yes, the tatoo is potentially embarrassing, if it is real. But only because of it being in somewhat poor taste. The tatoo is not a picture of Sanchez. It is of Ryan's wife. And to take it to mean it impacted Ryan's decision to start Sanchez or that he should have started someone else (Tebow) is just plain absurd.

While we all can agree that Sanchez likely played himself out of a starting job this season, there was nobody on the roster to take his place in 2012. Steve Young was not on the bench this past season. Instead we had Tebow and McElroy. We had a QB who has the most playoff wins in Jets history playing because the team thought week after week that he would turn it around, but he got worse. Replacing him in week 9 or 10 or 11 would not have made a difference. In fact, it helped the team realize that the team needs to go in another direction at QB in 2013 and in the future. The tatoo played no role in this decision.

The Tebow argument has been beaten to death, but anybody with an ounce of football knowledge knows he is not an NFL QB and should not have been on the Jets, let alone a starter. Tebow did not get the shaft, did not deserve a shot, and is not a victim. He is a gimmick QB whose presence did as much to create the circus atmosphere around this team as anyone or anything. Starting him would have things around this team much much worse. The media wanted to see him play because it and he make for a good story. The media has no interest in what is best for the Jets.

McElroy was not the answer either. He is a 7th round draft pick and border line NFL player. That is it. He is gutsy and smart, but he lacks NFL tools and in the modern NFL, size and arm strength matter.

The Jets have had similar QB situations in the past. And they crop up in bad seasons.

In 1989 when the wheels came off (4-12 season after years of success in the 80s) the Jets went from Ken O'Brien to Tony Eason to Kyle Mackay. Tony Eason led a Pats team to the SB in 1985, but he was no NFL QB to build around. Tebow won a playoff game and had some wins in 2011, but we all (except for the Tebots) know that you can't win in the NFL if you don't run an NFL offense. This is not the Florida Gators. It is the modern NFL with offenses based on the passing game. No way Sanchez should have been benched for Tebow and it had nothing to do with the tatoo. Please. It everything to do with Tebow not being a good enough QB to play. Elway realized that as did 30 other teams, and eventually 31. Jacksonville seems to be the only hold out for obvious reasons.

And McElroy is our modern day Kyle Mackay or Trent Taylor or Brooks Bolllinger. Maybe he deserved an audition, but putting a player like that in as a starter is a sure sign of desperation at the end of a lost season.

The future QB of the Jets is not on the roster and may not even be in the league.

But to say that, because of the tatoo, it shows Ryan's judgment was clouded or biased is just plain nuts. Sanchez was the best QB on the roster. He played his way out of the job, but there was nobody to replace him with. To say that Ryan would let a tatoo influence his coaching, or that the tatoo indicated that he had something going on with Sanchez that went beyond the field is more than ridiculous.

Let's move on to 2013 as a fan base and not play into the hands of the media. We will have a new GM in a few days and this team needs a talent infusion. A lot is going to happen between now and training camp in July. Ryan will sink or swim next season. Let's start talking about football issues and not tatoos and leave that to the Daily News and the other hacks out there. We are or should be better than that.

The difference is that as fans we are allowed to make sometimes idiotic statements and speculate about non-existing connections.

The journalists however are supported to be objective, and they are not. In other words, for media Jets' situation is a job that must be handled professionally -- and it's not. For fans Jets is just a past time and we can be as stupid and unprofessional as we want.

Well said finally something sensible on the subject!

Couldn't agree more, Sanchez wasn't any good but certainly better than Tebow or McElroy.

Not a proven fact by any stretch of the imagination. Now if you had said the worst, then you would be correct based on his numbers.

Tebow was not given a chance therefore Rex sabotaged the season by leaving Sanchez in. The tattoo shows his affection for Sanchez which may or may not have clouded his judgement.

Regardless Rex and Sanchez bring nothing but losing to the table.

They both must go, or we can just see more of the same.

We have lost a lot of good players due to this HC and QB. Cotchery should still be a Jet. He got out while the getting was good because the inmates are running the asylum.

    We need change.

This fanbase is a bigger joke than the team itself,

Apathetic fans are so much better to have than engaged ones.

That's just stupid. We never saw Tebow play in a real game. McElroy played 5 quarters, won a game, and was sacked 11 times the next one he played in because of the putrid O-Line play. How many more games would we have lost if Sanchez sat on the bench this year. NONE! His turnovers cost us quite a few wins in the last 2 years.

Let me get this straight. An NFL HC responsible for driving a billion dollar enterprise, a grown man to boot has a tat of his old lady half naked wearing a Jersey of the starting QB on your team and we shouldn't question this guys judgement?

Now I don't for a minute think Rex can't seperate his QB depth chart from the depth chart of guys he wants to pork his wife but that doesn't mean we shouldn't question his judgement.

    Disagree.

You see, the fans are supposed to be passionate about their team and make outrageous statements. We are fanatics.

Are we the ones who brought in Tebow? Are the posters on the TGG the ones who were guaranteeing Super Bowl victories in front of the national media? Am I the one with a tattoo of my half-naked wife draped in the starting QB's jersey?

While many fans are idiotic and uniformed, to claim that this organization hasn't been a "joke" or unprofessional over the past several years is off-base.

Yes. If only Cotchery, the #4 WR on a Steelers team that won one more game than the Jets had stayed, the Jets would be on their way to the playoffs and a SB this year.

McElroy was sacked 11 times because of ONE game the o-line played putrid? You use the oline to defend McElroy but leave in it the closet for the other QB on this team?

If Sanchez took 11 sacks, this team and every news outlet would be begging for him to be benched due to his inability to FEEL THE PRESSURE.

For McElroy it is his game time skills that gave him that ability.

The tattoo itself is extremely odd, but Rex Ryan's decisions this past season were much odder. THAT is and has always been the #1 issue. Then you combine that with him losing the locker room last season and you can see why he's on the hot seat.

But he's creepy as hell, and that will be his final undoing.

Not to mention all the posts about Sanchez nailing Rex's wife while he watches. The media have become gossip queens - shrill babies for their agenda. Ryan deserves criticism about how his team performed period. Hopefully he has learned from it - we'll find out. All this other stuff is high school hysteria.
