I did not see a thread on the islanders,,if there is one merge it. Hopefully this year and then the move to Brooklyn puts this franchise back on the map
It's been way too long !

I'm so pumped that hockey is back. Some great young talent on this tea. Having an actual defense this year should help this team challenge for a playoff spot.

Was actually wearing this shirt last night:

Sorry, but not only are the Islanders not moving to Brooklyn next year (2013-2014 season), they're not moving there the year after that (2014-2015 season), either. Three more seasons (including this year) in Uniondale, and then they start in Brooklyn.

From what I understand the new CBA will prevent them from ever making idiotic deals like those with Yashin and DiPietro in the future, so that's a positive.

As long as Charles Wang owns the Isles, it won't matter if they play in Nassau, Brooklyn, or Mexico. They aren't going to win anything.

keeping the name "New York Islanders" is part of the deal but those Stanley Cup banners and retired numbers will be hanging in Barclay's Ctr.

why wouldn't they be hanging in the Barclay's Center?

BTW, has there been any talk about a renovation to fit the arena for hockey before 2015?

That seating chart (with no seats on the far end of one side) was for that exhibition game and was released before a decision was made for the team to move to and play in Brooklyn long term. Changes need to be made so there are seats at that side by 2015. If not.. they shouldn't move to Brooklyn.

RealisticJETfan,,,I am not alone,,there are plenty of us out here

We Islander fans are no more alone than "US" Jet fans and instead of just 1969 we have 4 yrs in a row that we can hang our hat on

Regardless it has been as I said WAY too long ! Islander Ranger games used to be THE BEST and had real meaning,,,hopefully it gets back to that soon !

Thread needed a bump in a big way
The team is playing really well,,,excellent defense ,,,good goaltending and some of the young guys are scoring goals,,,,,playoffs are right around the corner and the islanders could make some noise !
Ps I was a party yesterday and we were watching the Islander and Knicks games funny to see the ranger fans screaming at islander scoring opportunities as they wanted us to beat Winnipeg in the worst way :)

The good sign was that we played a bad game yesterday and still came out with two points. Gotta love the young core of this team right now.

Lol not trying to offend anyone but they get no headlines and no discussion here, and the Rangers and Devils do. Odd to me.

I realize there's probably a die hard core that will never waver.
