Sure it a ridiculous thread. The OP acts like it's a good idea that the Jets should publicly declare their incompetency...seems that's what he thinks, anyway. Yeah, that's always a good idea. Press conferences solve problems...perhaps in the Twilight Zone. Or they give sound bytes for a fan frenzy to feed on, especially when they "bear their soul." Always gotta radiate confidence to the best of your ability in this business, otherwise you are doomed before you begin. Attitude is half the battle.
What I really don't like is Slauson took a pay cut and he now only gets 1.1 million. Slauson is better than Hunter and more versatile since we can use him for Center. Yet Hunter gets 2.5 million guaranteed? Ridiculous. We should have made Hunter take the pay cut.
as this drags on i am more convinced that hunter has classified photos of woody, rex, and MT in a threesome......
we could leverage slauson since his deal wasn't guaranteed. We couldn't leverage wayne hunter since his deal was guaranteed. The only way to get Wayne Hunter to take a pay cut this year, is to offer him guaranteed money going forward. I'm pretty sure no jets fan on the planet wants to see us forced to keep Wayne on the roster past tomorrow, much less next season.
I doubt it. It seems to me at least that half of the Jets fanbase gets more excited the worse the team does (that might just be the cynic in me though). In any case, with Tebow on the team, I think merchandise sales are just fine.
#notsureifserious -Nelson was offered more money. It's as simple as that. -We have drafted safeties, just not high up in drafts. We literally just drafted two, one of which has solidified himself as a 2nd string backup in preseason. Drafting a safety high is one of the riskiest picks you can make in a draft. -I agree with you on this one. I never understood that trade, and he is certainly someone who could have helped us out last year. -Smith is a cheap, serviceable safety. He is just not a starter; something we were forced to be subjected too when Leonhard went down last year. This goes back to letting Lowery go for peanuts. Smith at worst is a good backup. -Its obvious Hunter was retained because Sparano thought he could make good use of him at RT with his new offensive scheme and zone blocking. The results have not panned out so far, but I at least see the logic behind it. If Sparano and company thought he could be serviceable at $2.5 million, you wouldn't pounce on that? -Rex doesn't place as much emphasis on LBs as he does up front. With his LB, he prefers good run stuffers, first and foremost, something Harris, Scott, and Thomas excel at. Pace obviously isn't the sack machine we thought we were signing. -This team is missing NO SAFETIES or a consistent pass rush. The defense is perfectly fine the way it is. Offensively, ya we need a new RT and a more accomplished WR, but thats what we brought Hill in for; to be that guy eventually. -I'm not gonna respond to the firings post; this is the typical sky is falling mentality I've seen on this site lately, and it makes me fucking sick. Grow a pair and stick with the team and stop your whining. -Buffalo does not look better than us. This so called 'new defense' hasn't done shit in the preseason, and haven't played an actual down together. The Jets have had their number recently, and I think they will continue to do so.
Organizations generally don't call press conferences to admit to and alert others about all of their failures. Perhaps you've noticed this during your time on this planet.
And you clearly haven't noticed the tongue in cheek nature of the thread. Perhaps sarcasm has eluded you during your time on this planet?
