I am wondering if this kind anonymous backstabbing culture will last forever? Tony might not be the best OC, and I hate him. But he doesn't deserve this. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000121516/article/report-jets-players-doubted-sparano-during-season
Consider the source...Manish Mehta. I highly doubt anything he writes is true anymore. He's just trying to dig and make up any dirt he can after not being force fed headlines by Rex.
I can't understand your take on this. We may not like that Mehta lets us know about bad shite on the Jets. But I am not aware of any story he printed that proved to be wrong. Have Jet players made anonymous complaints to reporters in the past? Check. Did the Jet O perform worse under Sparano than Schotty? Check. Did fish fans warn us that Sparano was an uncreative grinder, and we would regret his coming here? Check. Did the Jets O have great playcalling this past season? A big no check there. So why do you think this story is untrue?
Oh, I mean, I think Sporano is a glorified fist goal field pumper myself. I'm just wary of a story that comes from Manish after these last couple of weeks. He's been doing nothing but needling the organization for shit and then complaining that he's not being force fed headlines.
Schotty also had better personnel all 6 years than Sparano had this one year. I would love to know which players "doubted" Sparano's playcalling this year... aside from Mangold, nobody on the offense has earned the right to doubt the playcalling. Tebow may have but that makes sense.
I'd be worried if they DIDN'T doubt Sparano's playcalling.... The players know the game of football, good for them.
It all comes down to leadership, Woody and Rex are running a circus the players are just following their lead. People will of course pass the buck and blame the media for reporting it, instead of placing it where it ultimately belongs, at the leadership of the team.
How are they running a circus? That's just the popular noun used by the media today to get comments on their blog that usually say 'LOL, JETS SUCK' or 'LOL, I"M A PATS FAN. THANKS FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT'
Just as much, if not more, Sparano struggled keeping the offense flowing smoothly. It's pretty easy to see how out of rythym and sync the offense was many times over the course of the games I saw.
As someone else pointed out this AM, if Manish had players saying this to him during the season, why would he wait to put this out now? I'm not saying it's not true -- because it would be impossible to think that Jet players would have anything positive to say about offense -- but I'm saying MM just made this up this AM, knowing it can't be disproven or disputed. Boycott the NYDN. Fuck Manish and Meyers.
1. Tebow nonsense all season 2. Foot fetish tapes and swinger personal ads 3. Guaranteeing Super Bowls 4. Stating we're eliminated from the playoffs when we weren't 5. Sophomoric digs at Tom Brady, Rex's man-crush 6. Cursing and behaving unprofessionally on Hard Knocks 7. Chasing headlines instead of W's 8. Going off to the Bahamas instead of giving the mandatory press conference every single other team managed to get done by now. 9. Constant leaks all season long to the media It goes on and on, this shit did not happen under Herm or Mangini, not great coaches but they were at least professional, it doesn't plague any other team, just the Jets under Ryan...
So true. Mehta is a turd that is vying for an ESPN job like Dick Cimini did. I have "anon" sources too and could also write up stories and take a stab in the dark and be right. And for those blaming Rex for the "circus" mentality, the fish rots from the head. Even proven coaches will fail here.
It was the most unorganized, disjointed Jets offense I've seen in all my years of watching this team. The Kotite years the Jets were terrible, but they had a putrid defense. The offense was just bad, not disgustingly bad - they at least could run basic plays smoothly. Sparano's offense ALWAYS took until the last second on the playclock to snap it. They had recievers out of place, players not knowing who to block, no rhythm what-so-ever and they had no identity at all.
1: I agree. Tebow distraction wasn't necessary. 2: Yeah, Rex totally wanted those videos released just so everyone can look at his wife's feet. Whatever fetishes he has are none of anyone's business. He can be into BDSM for all I care. 3: Really...? God forbid that he wants to win a Superbowl. He went around it in the wrong manner, but he has the right idea. 4: WTF. So you don't want him guaranteeing superbowls, but you want him to say 'everything is hunky dorey' when they had what I assumed was a fairly unrealistic shot at the playoffs. 5: Can't comment one way or another about this, as I haven't heard it. 6: OH NOES!!! A football coach is cursing and acting less than professional in front of his players! Whatever shall we do! 7: Really...I wasn't aware we had a winless season because of 'chasing headlines'. 8: I do find it a little odd. But, it's not like he left on his own. Woody probably told the staff that he would take care of the fine and gave them all a break. We have more important things to do than address the media. Most of our fans think he's delusional or lying, so what's the point of hearing him speak...? 9: Yeah, that's bad. But, I think it's going to get cleaned up next season with Rex still here. So, you think it's the circus because of some bad reasons. In other words, because the media said so.
If the 2012 Jets were NOT the NFL equivalent of a side-show circus act as you say, then I'd like to see what one actually is...
Geez I don't see how any fans who were watching the games would want to dispute that the playcalling disrupted the rhythm of the O. That among other reasons is why Sparano is almost certain to be fired.
Who sought out that polarizing player.. Who relishes in that polarizing market.. Who seeks out attention to their bad season..
