And there's not sign except the Jets wanting Rivers that SD wants to part with Rivers. It's gonna be a lot to give up especially if we try to include Sanchez in the deal which would actually weigh us down in the deal
Precisely my thinking. Rivers is a stopgap, shortsighted reach that we will surely overpay for just so we can attain more mediocity. He is not a long term answer at the position. He's Boomer/Favre/O'Donnell all over again. I'm sick of that model. If there's a QB in this draft that the scouts like, draft him. If not, wait until next year. Draft QBs until we hit on one. If that means another year of enduring Sanchez before cutting his ass, so be it. If the thought of starting Sanchez is unbearable, sign a middling FA QB like Orton on the cheap for next season.
So what you're saying is that if the Jets were in the AFCCG and you had a choice between Mark Sanchez and Phillip Rivers for QB you'd choose Sanchez?
Who are they negotiating with? Their GM got the axe, and they are actively interviewing new candidates?
absolutely 100% w/o a doubt. I think the facts tell us that, despite being surrounded w/ much more talent in a weaker division Rivers has never led his tam to a conf title game, Sanchez has done it twice in far fewer years. Just watch a tape of our playoff game w/ SD, Rivers poor play was a major reason we won and sanchez made enough big plays to help us win.
I think the Jets defense had something to do with it too. The fact that you would take Sanchez over Rivers is all I needed to hear to know that I'm wasting my time. Happy new year nyjunc.
Philip Rivers was handed a potential dynasty. A team that had won 12 games in 2004 and won the AFC West, they had a down year in '05 and Brees got hurt to open the door for him. Despite all the talent he has 3 playoff wins under his belt and their lone div rd win came after he got hurt and Volek led them to the GW TD. 7 playoff games -Rivers had at least 1 INT in EVERY playoff game he has played in -threw more than 1 TD just twice and the 2nd time 2 of his 3 TD passes came in garbage time -had positive TD to INT ratio just twice -negative TD to INT ratio FOUR times -In 2 cold weather games: 40-72, 519 yds, 3 TDs, 3 INTs(2 TDs came in garbage time), 74.9 rating -8 TDs, 9 INTs in 7 games Sanchez 6 games -postive TD to INT ratio 4 times -negative TD to INT ratio 1 time -multiple INT games? ZERO -multiple TD games? 3 -9 TDs, 3 INTs in 6 games -In 3 cold weather games: 48-73, 609 yds, 6 TDs, 0 INTs, 119 rating
enjoy your fantasy football the same great D that got shredded a week later by another legendary January choker?
LOL at Sanchez > Rivers talk IMO Charlie Whitehurst is a better option than Sanchez If we cant trade for Rivers... I wonder if Pete Carroll would take Sanchez back for Matt Flynn? Flynn has a higher cap hit than Sanchez and that might be apealing to the Hawks....
If ANYBODY on here thinks that Sanchez is better than Rivers should just shoot themselves. Talk about turning the ball over all you want(which can be fixed) but at LEAST Rivers hasn't thrown for 5+ interceptions in MULTIPLE games and gets a BUTT FUMBLE. For Christ sake, this guy LEAD, notice that I said lead, HIS team to victory with a torn ACL in the PLAYOFFS!! Kid has pure heart and determination with more than enough talent. Rivers > Nacho any day!
On the bold, Sanchez hasn't done that either unless I purged the memory from my brain. He had 5 INTs against BUF in 2009 and hasn't 5 INTs since.
Junc, I think youre forgetting that 2010 Saanchez no longer exists. Rivers is lightyears better than Sanchez right now.
Didnt we lose two of those playoffs game to you? Curious, is Rivers not a good playoff QB or was your defense not damn sick that took you to two AFCCG's? Are you saying your team wasnt worthy? Norv isnt a big time HC either, and ill also say the other playoff game Rivers lost in the AFCCG , he played in the cold in New England with a TORN ACL after undergoing a surgical procedure on that knee after the playoff game the prior week in which he got hurt to be able to play on that torn ACL. Before he got hurt he threw 3 TD's at Indy.
they won that playoff game w/ Billy Volek at QB not Philip Rivers. Mark Sanchez has 1 game w/ 5 INTs and that was his rookie year, the ame year he outplayed Rivers at Sd in the divisional round of the playoffs to help his team reach the title game while Rivers flopped once agin despite having the superior team around him. He's there somewhere and you guys forget Rivers 2009 isn't around anymore either. Despite playing in a creampuff division hasn't led his team to postseason since 2009. We beat you twice in postseason, once in 2004 and again in 2009- two completely different teams. Our team was worthy, we outplayed you despite much less talent and a rookie QB on the road. Mark Sanchez played on the road at NE too and he outplayed Tom Brady leading us to 28 pts and a divisional round win. You won that game in Indy w/ Volek at QB leading you to the GW TD. We beat you in 2009 mainly b/c of QB play.
Ah. I thought you meant the jets won mainly because of sanchezs play. Yes, I agree, the jets won that game because of the jets d and sd choking like dogs with picks and missed fgs. Sanchez did very very little that game
One missed Fg was 57 yds, the last one would only have brought SD w/in 7 and then we play out the game differently, it wouldn't have been prevent mode up 10 late which allowed SD to score wuickly. QB play made the difference, our QB made big plays(I'm not talking 60 yd plays but big plays in that game to help us win) and their QB did not. Their QB made the biggest mistake which turned the game in our favor w/ that brutal INT that set us up for our 1st TD.
