I agree. I couldn't see Cowher wanting to put up with the dysfunction of the Jets and the media scrutiny of NYC. He probably thought he could return to the Steelers but realized that ship has sailed considering the great job Tomlin has done. If you don't have that burning desire to get back into the game the longer you're enjoying the stress free TV analyst position the harder it is to get back in. Cowher strikes me as a family guy who's not like an Andy Reed who coaching is his life.

What experience does Cowher have as a GM or head of football operations?? None. Stupid move. I'd rather have an up and coming asst GM from another team than an old man who never had the job.

    Parcells flopped as a GM.

He would flop, but you would take him? What sense does that make?

Take him over Rex is what I said, context is everything.

My gut tells me he would flop simply because we're the Jets and for no other reason, but I think Rex is a mess and has no chance of success in 2013 so I would take a shot at Cowher and possibly being pleasantly surprised, Rex I believe has lost the team and his confidence is shot and not coming back.

If he would flop, then why take him at all. Comparing two coaches you consider failures is meaningless. At least if you keep Ryan and next year is a bad year, he is gone. You hire Cowher and he is here for 4-5 years before his failures lead to his firing.

Cowher isn't going to come here. Francessa is a windbag.

Your avatar made me think....If Mark Sanchez was "Flash Gordon"...Would the world have been doomed? Things to ponder at night.

    Right...

I didn't think any quality GM candidate would take the job with Rex here.

However, this might be a plus for some.

1- What quality HC's are really available right now? Retreads sure. But, there are no studs out there. Even if there were, a bunch of teams will be fighting for the same guys.

2- Rex does crappy, and he's the fall guy. Since he inherited Rex, he comes off smelling like a rose. Then he can pick his own guy.

3- Rex reverts to 09/10 success. New GM doesn't have to worry about the coaching situation.

Cowher has been waiting forever for coughlin to die or get fired. He isn't coming to coach this clusterfuck.

Why would you want a guy you think would flop?

I actually would like the hire, bring back respect to the jets. However, I would want him to be the head coach and bring in a GM.

Also, could you have a worse picture for your profile....the man is single handily destroying America

Cowher has no experience as a GM and is overrated as a coach.
He will not turn the Jets around
We have a better chance of Rex having a good season next year, or Rex flopping and a new GM hiring someone else in 2014

Bill Cowhers resume prior to Super Bowl 40 is one that a good chunk of jet fans woulda ripped apart year in year out. 4 afc title game losses at home, losing to buffalo at home in the playoffs in 93 and 2 consecutive losing seasons mixed in with 3 seasons in a row not making the playoffs

He wants a situation where he can win and get paid.

Total BS and lies...Jets have NO interest in this overrated guy and he doesn't want the Jets.

Dissed Woody, too, in 2009. Woody didn't forget.

Can someone explain to me why this guy gets so much hype every time there is a coaching position available? This guy is highly overrated.

Former Super Bowl winning coaches are bad hires if you want a Superbowl of your own.

No coach has ever done so before with two teams.

Cowher's most distinct advantage over Rex is that he is not a clown or buffoon.
