I know this is long but I often feel people have no rhyme or reason as to why/how their offseason can work out so I just wanted to justify my decisions. Hope you like it any feed back is appreciated

    Let walk
    • Keller- Some team will blame his lack of production on poor QB play and over value him driving up his value
    • Brandon Moore- solid pass blocked but poor run blocker if this team wants to improve it’s run blocking moore needs to go

    Cut
    • Jason Smith- Saves 12M
    • Pace- Saves 8.5M
    • Scott- Saves 7M
    • Eric Smith- Saves 3M
    • Tebow- Saves 1.5M

    Restructure
    • Harris- due to make 13 M next season and 7M in 2014 just spread it out 10 & 10 Saves 3M in 2013
    • Sione Pouha- played in only 38% of the snaps this year he’s due 6M in 2013 he will need to take a pay cut or get cut saves 2M in 2013

Total Savings: 37M putting the Jets at a 104M about 26-30M under the cap!

    Resign
    • Yeremiah Bell- Team needs a veteran presence and he can still play well enough 1 yr 1.5M
    • Mike DeVito- Great in the rotation of the D-line and can play DE and NT 3 yr 6M
    • Nick Folk- Good enough 1 yr 700,000
    • Greene- back to back 1000 yr rusher and a good guy to have as we groom a draft pick and powell, contract similar to the law firm: 3 yr 9M
    • Landry- can’t lose this guy has gotten better as he’s learned the defense a secondary with him Revis, and Cro is scary: 4 yr 20M
    • Slauson- Average guard but cheap: 2 yr 2M
    • Braylon Edwards- worth having for competition 1 yr 700,000

    Free agent pick ups
    • Erin Henderson- Big (6’3 244 lb) LB who will replace scott at ILB. I feel losing 3 LBs will really weaken this core and they need some veteran presence and not rely on Davis to start in his 2nd year: 3 yr 6M

    Trade
4th round pick and a conditional 2014 draft pick (2nd-4th) to Seattle for Matt Flynn: Flynn is due 6M next year and is the cheapest starting quality replacement for Sanchez. Sanchez contract is something the Jets must swallow next season and cut him in 2014 and eat his 4M guarantee contract. Flynn’s 2014 salary is 6M but can be cut with minimal penalties if he under preforms and the Jets can then draft a QB in the 2014 draft which should be strong with guys like: Bridgewater, Manziel, Logan Thomas, Aaron Murray,

Total spent in FA: 20M (could be more or less depending on how contracts are structured but most should be backended until after Sanchez is cut and more $ is available) leaving 6-10M for back ups and draft picks

    Draft:
    • *Trade 1st rd pick to steelers for their 1st and 2nd
    • 1st (Steelers)- Chance Warmack OG- Moore’s replacement and should improve the o-line tremendously
    • 2nd- Robert Woods WR- I’d rather a TE but Woods is a really good WR who the Jets are lucky fell to the 2nd
    • 2nd (Steelers)- Chase Thomas OLB- Smart player who can step in right away and play, he also has some real pass rush potential too
    • 3rd- Stepfan Taylor RB- solid all around back who produced even without Luck & 2 starting o-line men, I’m very high on this kid
    • 5th- Michael Williams TE- finally a blocking TE we haven’t had since hartstock, tall TE (6’6) who is an amazing blocker who some say could play OT in the NFL if he added weight
    • 6th – Zach Boren FB- Conner was cut and Hilliard sucks he even allowed 2 sacks in just 37 pass pro attempts pathetic
    • 7th- Kenny Tate OLB/SS- Eric smith’s replacement Tate was a SS who was moved to OLB and succeeded at both but he has some serious injury issues, he’s worth the risk in the 7th

    2013 roster:
    QB- Flynn*, Sanchez, McElroy
    HB- Greene, Powell, Taylor*, McKnight
    FB- Boren*
WR- Holmes, Woods*, Hill, Kerley, Edwards
    TE- Cumberland, Williams*, Baker
    OT- Ferguson, Howard
    OG- Warmack*, Slauson, Ducasse
    C- Mangold
    NT- Pouha, Ellis
    DE- Wilkerson, Coples, Devito
    OLB- Thomas* , McIntyre
    ILB- Harris, Henderson*, Davis, Bellore
    CB- Revis, Cro, Wilson, Trufant
S- Landry, Bell, Allen, Tate*, Bush

Fuck Flynn. I dont want another team's garbage. The draft is decent, but I want no part of Flynn...

I don't want Matt Flynn. he only produced in Green Bay because he had a bunch of offensive weapons, and that game where he threw 6 TD's was against the Lions. I'd rather sign a vet QB or draft one in rounds 3 or 4. or just wait until 2014 (Manziel, Bridgewater)

I don't want Flynn either. His scouting report is bad. I wonder if we can get Ricky Stanzi from KC? He has elite QB metrics but they mind bogglingly refuse to give him playing time, if they use their pick on a QB maybe they'd be agreeable to a trade.

Stay put on a QB with Sanchez and sign a FA like Matt Moore to compete with him.
Let Greene walk as we've got essentially the same type of back in Powell and give McKnight a bigger role.

I expected many of you wouldn't be pleased with the Flynn trade so please allow me to explain my rational. Sanchez is done and the team needs an upgrade at QB & options can include drafting a QB or signing a Vet like Moore or Cambell but they both are terrible and would still cost a min of 3M per year, only 3M less then Flynn. Personally I'd rather spend the extra 3M on giving Flynn a chance then using it to sign an average FA. Additionally I explored the draft for QB upgrades but I feel uncomfortable with EVERY QB. The jets MUST hit on almost every draft pick and no QB in this class is even close to that. My plan is to upgrade the team as much as possible, which is what i did through the draft and FA, rather then wasting a pick on a developmental QB. Flynn will get a chance in 2013 to start and if he preforms well the Jets are lucky enough to have a starting QB for only 8M & if he underperforms the Jets will likely draft early where they can select one of the top QBs in 2014 draft and then cut Flynn with little penalty. Basically the way I see it is why not give Flynn a chance and pay the extra 3M then waste a draft pick on a QB who prob won't turn out or a horrible free agent QB who you know will never preform better then average, it's worth the risk.

With regards to Greene resigning. I agree that Greene has underperformed but this team can not lose another weapon and hope to just rely on Powell and Taylor to handle the teams rushing attack. Greene is a good back to have on your team to wear down defenses although he isn't a great starter in a solid rotation I feel Greene can be a great contributor that is why I selected to resign Greene.

Honestly i don't think he will. If the draft were today I feel like he'd be at least the 4th QB taken behind Barkely, Wilson, and Smith not to mention Bray & Glennon could also go before him. I feel like Murray will try to boost his draft stock in his senior season to be a potential 1st round pick but as of right now there is a very slim chance he'll be a 1st rounder, for these reasons I feel like Murray will go back to Georgia

Murray gets tons of crap from UGA fans for not winning the big one, but he is great and I think he will be a great pro. His draft status is low because he is 6'0". If he were 6'3" he would be talked about as the 1st pick in the draft. Whenever he comes out he will go somewhere 2nd to 4th due to height concerns. He has a lot of good players coming out and UGA will be losing most of their defense so he will probably put up a ton of stats but not win as many games next year
