The Rivers fanboys don't care about that. They look at his fancy stat sheet and suddenly dancing unicorns appear before them as they dream about Rivers marching us towards that magical wildcard game next season. Ugh, Rivers is bad. I couldn't stomach watching an entire season of him and his horrifically awful throwing motion. I'd rather have the butt fumble. At least I know I'm guaranteed to laugh.
and why would Norv wanna come here if we get Rivers? SD can't package them together because Norv was fired. I personally see no way this happens without us giving up something else. I would rather sign Whisenhunt as OC, and sign Matt Moore.
This. I think this is a point everyone seems to be missing. I understand if a team wants to take on Sanchez as a backup and pay virtually nothing because they see potential and view him as a change of scenery guy who can succeed with good weapons. With that said, there is 0% chance SD would start Sanchez on that team, even if we handed them a combination of Revis/Cro/high draft pick. I don't know who the SD backup QB is off hand, but I can't imagine he's anywhere near as good as Rivers, where the swap would be worthwhile.
LMAO...you seriously dont believe that do you? Why on earth would we trade Rivers for Sanchez? Seriously...SANCHEZ?? Neither of us even have a GM right now, how can they be having talks in the first place? This is pure fantasy for whoever this Steinberg guy is. LOL, Dean Spanos would never allow that trade to happen. Rivers problem is having the worst OL in the league and hurt and injured WR's(lost Vincent Brown for the year in least preseason game, Royal hurt 70% of the season and Meachem just cant get going)...till they got Alexander at mideason who has flourished since he has been here. He is a selling point to a new GM and especially a new HC.. Rivers isnt going anywhere! EDIT** Just saw this Steinberg source on twitter. He looks like he is 16. OK, back to our regularly scheduled program.
I don't think Rivers is leaving SD either. Don't take the joke from that deluded fool as the majority opinion of the Jetland. It is not.
Yep. We all know it, we just got carried away fantasizing about having a decent QB on the team. Surprised at how many ppl think he's shitty tho. No QBs work seems to be validated until they win a SB.
Our team is a mess right now, I'm not sure we will attract any blue chip guys to run the offense at this point. We don't have a GM, and our owner has turned this into a circus. I hope this situation gets stabilized soon.
Phil Rivers Sucks. Period. Under Norv, Sanchez is the better player. Rivers folds like a cheap tent in big spots, which is where Sanchez plays his best.
Why would anyone want Philip Rivers? w/ MUCH better talent around him in a MUCH easier division he hasn't amde the playoffs since 2009 and he's never been a big game QB. Fantasy football has runined football(and I love fantasy football), we have access to much more info than ever before and people still judge based on meaningless fantasy #s.
That was a big spot? how about the biggest Jets-Pats game ever in the 2010 div rd? you got clips of that?
Horrible post considering that play wasn't in a big spot at all, you're just trying to fill your own needs by bashing Sanchez. If you wanted to make a valid argument, argue the fumble in week 14 with 35 seconds left. Phillip Rivers seems to have regressed. That being said he was/is a top quarterback in the league. I would rather stick with Sanchez for a year though and see what we can get from the next draft.
Rivers doesnt put up big fantasy #'s. Rivers has lost his arm that wasnt even that strong to begin with. He's a checkdown/turnover machine... 5 years ago sure...Rivers stinks now.
What happened to Colt Mcoy?? He was looking like he might have something in his first season then got benched. Id take Colt over Sanchez, But id also take Curtis Painter over Sanchez so thats not saying much
lol the Butt Fumble is great, I still wonder where Sanchez was running on that play and how he never saw it coming. He ran straight into him almost on purpose it seemed
Some good news is that Dirk Koetter is going to sign an extension with the Falcons so their Offensive Coordinator position will not open. I feared Norv Turner going there since they already have a lethal offense in place. Aside from the Jets, does anybody know off the top of their head what other OC positions will be open? And here's the source on the Koetter extension: http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/Dirk-Koetter-signs-extension-with-Atlanta-Falcons-010213
It's just amazing that people are still defending Sanchez, let alone actually making asinine statements that he's better than Rivers. He's trash, move on!
This is true, but the only QB I would want in the 1st round would be Geno Smith and he's not going to be there at #9. Nor would I want to trade up to get him. Our only hope for next year is a veteran QB trade/FA, or drafting a QB in the middle rounds and hope he's the next Kirk Cousins. I neither of those happen I'm afraid we might be heading the way of the Eagles soon.
