It all depends if Woody wants to eat the salary cap hit.

    Is Rex a team builder?

Then why is he still here?

Lovie Smith has been the head coach of the Bears for 9 years, Rex has only been here for roughly 4 years.Everyone wants Rex fired but no one can even say who can replace him. You don't win in this league by firiing the coach every 4 seasons , none of the highly succesfull teams work that way, Rex has a winning record despite Mark Sanchez he should recive the "Coach of the Decade" trophy

Tebow was only an "option" if the Jets chose to use an option offense from the 1970's NCAA. If Tebow was a viable option, he would still be wearing orange. It is no accident that the Broncos improved by 5 wins this year with a real QB. Tebow is a joke and the sooner he is gone the better. Keeping Tebow on the roster, let alone having him continue to be an option as a QB will set this franchise back even more than it is now and will assure that no GM or quality coach will ever come here.

Not to argue the point...but Manning is not just a "real QB", he's probably top 10 all time. I doubt there are many QB's who could have had the same success this year in Denver.

As far as Tebow, I think he offered a lot more than what he was used for (not as a QB), but handing off or running every attempt did nothing for the team.

Woah woah woah! Easy there! That would involve a positive comparison and we can't have that! It's the Jets, negativity only, otherwise you're a blind homer wearing green tinted glasses!!!

What a poorly written article. The guy sounds like a high school bully. He's just so positive and sure that the Jets season next year will be just as bad if not worse. This is before draft / new staff / free agency. He just knows since Rex is here. What a stupid hateful fuck. If Rex is so bad, how on earth did we manage 2 deep playoff runs under him?

Rex has no ability to supervise anything offensively. Ask yourself, in a pinch could Rex pull the play book from the OC and call plays himself and do a better job (Both Fassel and Coughlin would be able to)? The answer is no because Rex isn't HC material. Rex is a coordinator period, end of sentence. And he's a terrible talent evaluator. All he is at this point is a bag of hot air blowing over a hot desert. Rex needs to wake up and do what is needed to become a HC or get fired at the end of the year, regardless of record. His dad was the same way, no ability to coach or supervise on offense, good defensive guy. Sorry, that's not HC material.

Suckchez's contract is a problem. Even if the all agree he needs to go there is little chance that they can swap out bad contracts with another team ala NBA style trades. The reality is Sanchez is on the team until after the June date when the cap hit gets reduced from 17mm to 12mm. He's owed 8.25mm regardless. Post that date you eat the 5mm additional cap hit and either release him, relegate him to 3rd string or trade him hoping that some team will agree to take on $2mm or so in his salary.

There is no way he's gone before that June date when his cap hit is reduced. They can spin it any way they want but that's just the cold hard facts in a year when they are in cap hell. the extra $5mm in savings by waiting until June is huge to the Jets.

Rex has a chance to make it if the new GM has what it takes to build an offense that can compete in today's NFL. The reason I think Rex is ultimately a one more and done HC is because this O is too far gone to fix in one off season and that is all Rex will get.

The thing with Rex is you are always half way there. He will always have a D at least good enough. Need to build this O in the GMs vision, not Rex's.

What Bizarro World logic led you to think that's a possibility?
