    I thought his last game was weeks ago. Special teams sure has played like he already checked out. Nevertheless, he did some great things for us over the years. Good luck, Westy.

    Westhoff had a great career. Although the Jets' Special Teams were not particularly 'special' this year, he still deserves 'special' thanks for his service in the NFL.

    Nice last game for Westhoff - two chip shot field goals deflected. I mean, do we need any further proof that the team has packed it in than that???

    He didn't go out the way he should have but I thank him for giving us great special teams for most of the past 12 seasons.

    I know there is much more to STs than the return game but since I have been following this team(1981);

    1981-2000 w/o Westhoff(20 seasons):
    6 PR(Springs '83, Townsell '87 & '88, Harper '87, Mathis '90, Johnson '97)
    6 KR(Humphery '84 & '86, Townsell '86, Johnson '97, Glenn '97, Williams '00)
    12 total
    8 different players

    2001-2012 w/ Westhoff(12 seasons):
    PR(Moss '02[2], Moss '04(playoffs), Kerley '12
    KR(Morton '02[2], Carter '03, Cotchery '04, Miller '05, Miller '06[2], Leon '07[3], Leon '08, Smith '09, Smith '10[2], McKnight '11, McKnight '12
    20 Total
    9 different players

    Deep down I feel as though this is a "soft" retirement for Westhoff. He LOVES coaching, he lives for. And he's far from an elderly old man who can't do it anymore.

    If the Jets ST isn't doing well next season, he'll be on speed dial...and he will come back.

    He deserved better, maybe he shouldn't have stayed on the extra year...

    I wish he went out better too. According to FootballOutsiders, we had the worst ST in the NFL this past year. That's absurd to even comprehend considering how good they've been since Westhoff got here.
