As far as evaluating the team, the Jets could be a play-off defense and I think Ryan's done a good job. The propensity to give up big drives hurt a lot and needs to be addressed.

On offense, I think its fair to say that Sanchez' overwhelming ineptitude is the main reason for the Seattle, NE g2, and Tenn losses. He was a contributing factor in the Pitts & SF losses. His play in the AZ game would have been the main reason for the loss if we had lost. With average QB play, we're 7-7 , maybe 8-6, and seriously in the hunt for the play-offs...maybe the favorite, given our last two opponents.

I've always felt that the NFL overrates you when you're up and kicks you when you're down. The Jets are getting their share of kicks right now, whether its justified or not.

If this team goes out and is 4-0 to start next year no one will care about this year. The media is what it is. I honestly don't think they really due that much in depth analysis of any team unless its beat reporters for a specific team.

Norv as the OC and a solid veteran QB will really be the keys this offseason.

Because they got clowned in the national televised thanksgiving day game and again this last week.

I cant blame the media for this mess, I blame Sancho.

Hopefully McElroy can make our team look respectable this weekend.

I can agree with this. Looking at the overall roster, the Jets just need to add some youth to their LB and OLB core. Get a veteran QB (Vick, A Smith, Moore)or unless McElroy looks promising these final two games. Add depth to the o line, re-sign Braylon, and Keller, and Landry. We make these small moves and the Jets could be a better team in '13.

I see this attitude from a few people and honestly, I wonder about the people who make this kind of statement. Our defense only gave up 14 freaking points, but people like you complain that we lost because the defense gave up the winning score? The defense had 0% to do with why the Jets lost to the Titans. About 99% of it was offense and the other 1% was our lack of punt returns. Our defense did more than enough to win the game. Just once again, no one else showed up.

The pattern of the defense getting a lead late and then surrendering it immediately is one we've seen several times in the last couple of years. It might just be random timing but it also might be slow linebackers.

Generally, if the offense did their job and just put up 20 points a game, it wouldn't be so back and forth. It just comes down to bad timing.

The offense did put up 20 points a game last season. I don't think it is bad timing. I think it is older slowing players who can't play as well late in the game as they do early on.

OP your only saying we maybe 8-8 at the end of the season because we face 2 teams who are suppose to be cup cakes. The 4-9 Titans when we played them on Monday night was suppose to be an easy game. If we had 2 average teams for the final 2 games you would think otherwise and those last 2 wins aren't definite wins. We are 6-8 with a chance to be either 6-10 or 8-8 or 7-9.

Whenever the Jets have a sniff at the playoffs fans get carried away or get defensive when we get called out in the media. We've had an easy schedule this year and the last half have been against bad teams except for NE. And we've struggled to win or lost against these teams. To even try to make the argument the Jets aren't that bad is laughable. We are one step above the worst teams in the league and that is noting to feel good about. The run defense is bad just look it up anywhere and the numbers don't lie. We have old slow players who give up big plays towards the end of games. Or are we not allowed to factor in what a defense does late in games?

In my opinion the Jets are an overall mediocre team on the verge of being one of the very worst teams in the league. I say that because we are clearly headed in the wrong direction and I can't see a scenario where the Jets become a dramatically better team next year. The team is approaching a fiscal cliff with a bunch of their overpaid players which means we're stuck with them or we cut them and take massive cap hits.

Personally I think you are a in a total state of delusion. Here is just a very small laundry list

    QB
    OLmans
    WRs
    RBs
    TEs
DLman who can rush the passer
    Speedy LBers
Maybe a safety if Landry departs
Maybe a DB if Revis is never 100% again

You are looking at YEARs like min 5 & maybe as many as 10 before the NYJs will compete for the VLT again

Jets give themselves a high expectation. Yes, we are 6-8 but most of the losses have been really bad. It's not so much how many games we lost, but how we lost them. I still believe we just need a solid QB (ironic with my username) and a sensible OC. I'm done with Sanchez n I'm done with meatball. Can't believe we ignored all warnings from Dolphin fans.

Couldn't agree more, fans and media have a very short term memory.

This was truly stunning given the absence of Revis. No 5 in defensive passer rating. Although no 1 is AZ, the other top teams are all elite defenses

This alone should save Rex's job IMHO

    Fixed that for ya.

Just look at Indy if you want proof. 1-15 to 10-6
