It would be nice to see Klecko in a Jets uniform.

I think we will try and get Klecko. He knows the system, he can bring multiple roles to a team. But I wouldn't be surpised if he tried to get away from the 3-4. From what I understand he wasn't the biggest fan of BB. But I would bring him in since he could jump right in and play some NT probably better then anyone we have. He may not be the right size for the position but he knows the technique.

Frankly, all those names excite at least some interest in me. I wonder why Klecko was cut, he really did a lot of great things for them. I also wonder why Oshinowo was cut. He's a rookie and Cleveland needs NTs

I disagree that he's a good fit for NT, I think he's just another run of the mill 3-technique. Check out his espn profile in comparison to Rashad Moore, for instance. And I won't even mention Babatunde's wikipedia entry.

    Now here's Rashad's:

God I'd love them to bring in Dan Klecko to play as an ILB in the big sets.

Even though I know he's not a great fit or talent I can't help thinking that something from the old man must have rubbed off on him. Joe Klecko was the greatest game day player that I ever got to see play for the Jets. Similar in effect to a younger Joe Namath in the 60's before I tuned in.

I agree I'd love to see Klecko here. If for no other reason than nostalgia. I agree with you Br4dw4y5ux, I think the old man rubbed off on him.

What I have seen of him, is he is a very versatile player, willing to do anything asked of him to get the job done. I know this might sound a bit crazy, but what if we converted him to fullback? He's done a little bit of it already in NE. We'd get a player immediately embraced by the fan base, and it would fill a need we truly have.

How is fullback a need we truly have?We have plenty of depth at fullback. Martin and Askew are here, and we also have 4 HBs. The last thing we need is another mediocre back. Klecko would play some DT in the 4-3, some DE in the 3-4, and some ILB in the 3-4 if we brought him in.

I'm pretty sure he was cut because he couldn't play the Nose and since they already have Coleman at the 3 they didn't need him.

If Klecko is available we have to get him now! Oshinowo would also be a great pickup.

Is it just me or is the talent pool of the NFL getting bigger. I cannot remember these many good players getting cut in years...

    Why does everyone want Klecko?

Yeah I know his dad played here, but why would he suddenly fit into our 3-4 scheme better than New England's? He is not a Nose Tackle and cannot play the End either. He could be a pretty good 3 Tackle but if he could play in the 3-4 Bellicheck would have kept him and wouldn't have played him at FB and LB and such.

I remember him fumbling against us while playing fullback. . . I think in '04.

Well CMart isn't really a fullback. Sure, he can block, but he is more suited to the run if he is in the game. He blocks on passing plays. What I want in a FB is someone who can lead the guy with the ball past the LOS.

Askew can't do it. Or actually, I should say doesn't want to.

As for the other RBs, none are anything special so far. Houston played good against 3rd stringers. Washinton is a ST guy, I don't want him protecting the passing game at all. Blaylock is IMO, above average as a runner, and worthless in the passing game.

The only guy who is a question mark is Barlow. We have no clue what he can do after his one rep (with a fumble) performance. I don't know about his blocking skills, but I doubt he was brought here for that anyway. If he can do it, fantastic, but that still doesn't leave anyone to block for him.

Fullback is a need for this team. It may not seem like a critical need now, but when the run is getting stuffed and any QB behind center is running for his life, we are going to miss having a decent one. I compare FB to TE. It's always seen as an extra position, nice to have a good one, but when your players are below average there, you really notice how much you need the talent. Blocking ability isn't glamorous, but it's necessary. I'd even bring Becht back at this point to bolster the running game.
