Lol of course Tannenbaum wants Sanchez to start. He doesnt want to look like a dumbass for commiting Sanchez to an extension.
Any team that can score any points at all is going to run away and hide from a Greg McElroy led offense. The Cardinals scored zero points after McElroy entered the game because they were playing a malfunctioning QB.
We only have one home game left, who starts in Jacksonville has no real bearing on ticket sales. Jersey sales however... The leak, (if there is one) is probably Woody. We are in the media business after all.
I think Tanny will view this from a financial lense more than a football one, so I'm not surprised he wants Sanchez. Why Sporano would want Sanchez though makes me wonder what he saw about McElroy that he dislikes?
Woody knows there's smoke swirling all around the Jets right now. I don't think he's likely to be fanning the air hoping to start a conflagration. One of the worst feelings in the world is not having control. Every new story about the Jets situation that portrays the team or anybody connected with it in a bad light further reduces the control that Woody has at the moment. He'd probably be really happy if everybody just shut up and let him begin to fix the problems that have cropped up.
I suppose this article is interesting solely on the issue of how leaks seem to come out of the Jet organization, and Kurt is right about that. As for who wants who to start, since none of these guys (Sparano included - look at the Qb issues they had in Miami) knows wtf they are talking about, that part of it we can safely ignore.
This was clearly leaked to Manish intentionally. Tannenbaum and Sparano are on their way to being fired and this is a way for Woody to get behind fan sentiment and distance himself from the guys he's going to let go.
Who in upper Mgmt has the ability to fix this? Start Sanchez, I'd rather us loose out. That way everybody gets their walking papers. I think the owner is unhappy because the team is on a downward slope. He has paid good money for this group, and it is dysfunctional and irrelevant. When is Rex going to stop talking about the defense and admit the Offense is the problem. We never hear that. Why in the World was Sanchez offered an extension?? Bad move by Tanny. I'm not a big Woody fan, I think he hates the fact that the Giants season is going well, and the whole NFL laughs at us. If we keep what we have now we are a .500 team at best. Maybe that's what needs to happen for a while
Hired Eric Mangini after the disaster in 2005 and Jets made the playoffs next season. Now, Herm probably would have bounced back also but you have to remember how bad that team looked coming out of 2005 with Mawae in mid-30's, Curtis retiring and disasters all along the offensive line. Hired Rex Ryan after the disaster in 2007 was followed by disappointment in 2008. Spent a hella lot of money bringing in veteran talent in that window to fix the holes that bad talent acquisition over a period of years had created. Jets went to two straight AFC championship games. Sorry, the idea that Woody has no track record of fixing things just doesn't fly. Building sustained success? Now that you can take shots at him for but he's been a fixer for the Jets over his entire span as owner.
Excellent point. Talent on this roster has gone down the toilet & the last thing Tanny needs is franchise QB that he spent so much money/picks to obtain crashing & burning. Tanny's opinion to start Sanchez are definitely influence by job survival tactics.
Interesting theory. Really these leaks are happening so ofen it does seem intentional on someones part in the organization.
Do you think McElroy is that bad? I know about the arm strengh limitations but he looked competent last week. Do you think that will change once he has a game or two on tape? I am thinking McElroy might be the better choice because If we can play mistake free on offense we should win these games.
Or maybe he just wants his name in the media some more. Either way, Tanny has had his chance - hes made a lot of errors thus far. As someone said earlier, of course he wants Sanchez to start. This all looks like a big mess waiting to happen. Its already a mess, but last thing we need is more media circus bs.
I'm not so sure about this. If the Jets stuck with Sanchez, they'd have 8 losses and there would be no playoff stretch to even discuss. Based on the way he played this season, I'd only go with Sanchez only if I was ready to tank the season & improve draft position.
