This is exactly why when Tannenbum is fired the Jets need to look at Pittsburgh's FO when they hire the new GM. I don't knnow who their assistant GM is but he should be on the short list because I can almost assure he's been with the team for 15+ years, understands you don't move up to draft trash, build a team with an OL and DL. There is a reason the same teams.. Pittsburgh, Giants, Packers, Bears, Pats, and Ravens are among the best in the league, they all follow the same principals.

Pitt always subs guys in and never miss a beat, they also know when their older players need to move on and already have replacements. What a fricking novel thought. While we have linebacking core reeking of arthritis.

    No it's not over.
We still have to win out, not make the playoffs and get a shitty draft slot.

Come on, you know you could see us go on a meaningless run and blow our chances at getting a good pick, can't you?

It's frustrating to watch... they let guys walk all the time and never miss a beat. Think about how many WR's they let walk away, running backs, they absolutely stole James Harrison from everybody. Perfect example... we passed on a glaring need at OL in David DeCastro to take a guy with questionable work ethics... who takes DeCastro (who was widely considered the best guard prospect in the last 5 years)... of course the Steelers.

They never sign big name FA's , they simply build through the draft and hardly ever miss on their high picks. They rarely trade up and when they do once again they usually nail it.

IMO we had one of the best olines for a number of years. From Parcells til 2 years ago. There was always a core to build around. Not the last 2 years though. We have a few good pieces surrounding turnstyles.

We always had a pretty good OL.. Randy Thomas, Mawae, McKenzie, Kerry Jenkins but somehwere along the way Tanny, Clinkscales and Bradway never got the memo. For the record how the hell is Bradway even still employed by the team?

lost the team last year....didn't have a healthy back up QB activated....he should be gone...tannenbaum should follow. Rex is a good defensive coordinator but he sucks as a head coach.

I like how people compare Kotite to Rex when Kotite has NEVER had a year as good as Rex has had. We could win 5 games this year and we'd win more than Kotite won in 2 years here. You guys leave a lot to be desired when it comes to actual football knowledge.

When you people stop blaming the QB and the coach and see that this team wouldn't win more than 6 games if Brady was QB'ing this team because the talent stinks so bad, then we can have actual football discussion.

Rex used the 5 TO as a cop out.

ATL turned the ball over 5 or 6 times against ARI and still found a way to win. This Jet team just plain sucks.

    Kotite first year - 10 -6 / Rex 9-7
    Kotite second - 11-5 / Rex 11-5
    Kotite third - 8-8 / Rex 8-8
Kotite fourth - 7-9 / Rex (Probably not better than 7-9)

Seems like a very reasonable comparison. Both inherited some talented ready to win teams had some success early and slowly turned it into a shit show.

Think just maybe the Baltimore Ravens knew things about RR that WJ did not? Another scenerio is WJ hired RR cause he needed somebody to lead the charge to sell PSLs with is constant promise that we would win the SB

What about someone that is 49er's or Pitts AGM? Or even the Ravens AGM? to replace Tanny, let tanny work the cap and that is it...

Yup, head coaches are irrelevant. Coaches don't turn the ball over, miss or make tackles or score points, therefore this has nothing to with Ryan. Nor do any of the losses or wins.

Of course, that means the Jets can safely fire him, since coaches don't matter. Why pay money to an observer? He should have to buy a ticket like any fan. You make a compelling argument for firing Ryan. ;)

Pitt does not have anyone with the assistant GM title. I am sure Colbert has an assistant but I don't know who he is.

Eric DeCosta is Ozzie Newsome's assistant.

Green Bay has three guys to consider. I mentioned them a day or two ago in some thread here.

The 49ers don't have an assistant GM. The closest thing is a director of player personnel, Tom Gamble. While their GM, Trent Baalke, seems to be fantastic, I haven't heard that Gamble has any particular notoriety around the league.

You guys are the same type of fans who wanted to fire Tom Coughlin. No one has gotten us as close to the prize as often as Rex.

The problem is the front office. Stupid moves like getting Tebow, Sparano and years of poor drafting. Fire Tanny and Sparano.

We got close to the prize but missed our window. Get rid of aging talent and rebuild. Dump Sanchez ASAP. We're not going to win next year or the year after that.

Until Woody realizes that winning makes stars not the other way around there will be no change. Offense wins in the NFL and if Rex doesn't get it there is no hope. In a few seasons Rex will be a D coach for some other team and the Jets will be rebuilding. Too bad it can't start now.

Ok, so look at Oakland this year. They hired Reggie McKenzie who worked in the Packers front office and he's done a terrible job with that team. Just because you hire a guy from a winning organization doesn't mean results will come.

You quote getting Sparano as being a stupid move. Isn't that on Rex? If Rex had no say or didn't have the balls to stand up to Tanny then he doesn't deserve to be a head coach.

If he did have a say then it is an equally a damning indictment as he is completely clueless.
