Takes over for Alex Smith. Injury not a factor in the decision http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-s...t-49ers-sunday-alex-smith-034632296--nfl.html
Let's wait and see after the Saints game if this becomes a constant switch. Sucks for Alex Smith though... damn he has been unlucky in the NFL.
I called this after the 49ers game. I'm a little bit surprised that it happened so soon though. I figured a real injury would have to force Smith out for an extended period of time or that Smith would be replaced in the off-season. Alex Smith is a mediocre NFL QB with a lot of talent around him and a great system that masks his weaknesses. Kaepernick on the other hand could be great. That's all a good coach needs to know to make the switch.
We have a bingo! Smith = GAME MANAGER - wont lose you games..but wont win you many either...not with his skill level. Kaepernick - GAME CHANGEr - will lose you some games by trying to do to much, but will also win you games with his ability - the question is will it be more wins or more losses.
