I just noticed all of last week we only had 52 guys on the roster (waived Maybin, Trufant on IR and only signed RB Bell). Now we cut Dowtin and we're down to 51, probably to make space for somebody... are we so loaded on talent we can roll with 52 guys only and not take a look at some player on some other team PS (sarcastic question)? Yet another questionable move by Tanny.
Do you think he might have made the difference in Thursday nights game? or anyone else we may pick up to replace him?
To help offset the anticipated loss of revenue from an empty stadium Thursday night  :breakdance:
This has implications for the practice squad too. Some guys who would otherwise be eligible for the practice squad next year will not be because we have a short roster.
Jason Hill just waived AGAIN. I've don't remember seeing a team this deep in the season with 3 empty slots (with such a lack in depth).
Jets release LB Dowtin and WR Jason Hill (Again) We are now down to a 50 man roster. 4 active WRs on the roster and Kerley is a game time decision to play. Leaving possibly us to go into the NE game with the trio of Gates Chaz and Hill. We got about 48 hours to make a move. At least get Jordan White on the active squad.
We can now re-name this thread, Why do we have a 51 man roster? Donnie Fletcher will be signed from the PS for CB depth with Berry questionable. The other two sports are anyone's guess. Maybe, just maybe, we'll give Jordan White a spot and a shot?
The fact that the Jets are playing fast and loose with the practice squad restrictions suggests heavily that there are big changes coming on the coaching and possibly management side. The practice squad is supposed to turn over anyway when a new regime comes in because the guys on it are the guys hanging on for their lives with only the coaches between them and a job unloading trucks at Walmarts.
Woody probably said straight out last week in the "meetings" that if they don't make the playoffs this year their all out. Not just to "play better".
I think we can only dress like 46 for any one game so there's always players sitting home anyway. Now there's just a few less sitting home, getting paid.
there really isn't any rhyme or reason to the jets and how they make moves. they just do things on the fly.
