According to pro football focus' latest pass rushing productivity numbers. Figured we could all use a little silver lining as our entire season/organization goes up in smoke. At least our first rounder isn't a bust this year. *knocks on wood* Thanks to InRevisWeTrust for finding the link for us: https://www.profootballfocus.com/bl...re-stat-snapshot-pass-rushing-productivity/2/
An I think they had Mo Wilk at #2 or 3. 3-4 Line men are always measured by there ability to stop the run and cause pressure not exactly get the sack.
We should've taken CHANDLER JONES because 7 months after the draft is the optimal time to evaluate picks
I'm not too surprised, "Lazy" Quinton has penetrated O-lines frequently this season. Unfortunately, the pressure he generates from the inside doesn't translate into sacks, as it is easy for the QB's to avoid Quinton when they know there won't be any pressure from the outsides.
Coples + DeMario ... I'm really liking both these guys & happy to see them both getting that play time as season keeps progressing. Rex can piss me off sometimes but he really knows D & gets defensive players to raise their game. I'm really confident Coples & DeMario will start next season & be rock solid. Only defensive player that Rex did nothing with was Vernon.
W/ Coples/Mo/Ellis continuing to develop under Dunbar & assuming the LB position is upgraded..the defense will be poised to be a top 5 unit again as early as next season. of course the offense is still atrocious...
Wilk isn't on the list posted (in the top or bottom 20); I think you're recalling him being on a list of the top lineman against the run.
It has to be his arm brands. Okay on a more serious note, I hope he continues to become better and better and then he can develop into an elite pass rusher, but knowing our luck....
As I recall JJ Watt is top 2 against both pass and run in their rankings... that is one monster there! However, the duo of Wilk and Coples should be quite potent, particularly once we get the linebackers sorted out.
Coples is just starting to look comfortable out there to me. He looks like he's going to be a really good one for us.
