i have to defend mark here. yes ME defending MARK when he looked at keller he was in fact covered, there was no way he was getting the ball in there at that moment. if he had come back to him or waited a few seconds it would hvae been different. however you cant just sit around in the backfield waiting for a guy to come open. especially when you are a scared qb. so he went to his second read. which was open. he probably was a little scared of the defender coming up and getting it so he hesitated and here we are. i dont blame him for not hitting 84 in the back of the endzone. it really wasnt there in the timing he had for it.
this is part of the problem with disecting things based upon a small snippet of video or a still shot. you cant really see the play. if i remember correctly they showed a perfect angle of what mark was looking at during the game. hill was not open when mark moved to the next guy.
I am not sure it matters. The snippet just made a really bad play look insane. I think that was the intent of the picture - not sure where it originated. But the bottom line was it was a really bad pass under the circumstances. Probably a TD if thrown on time but that window closed about the time of the pump fake - if it was ever really there. But I understand your point. Wish I could see the whole play again. Again - not that it matters.
oh i absolutely agree, it was terrible. he made a terrible play. he sucks a fat one. my only thing is that hill wasnt open when mark looked at him and moved on to keller. everything he did from that point was typical mark sanchez bullshit.
The play doesn't look any better when you look at it again. It was just a poorly thrown ball and the decision to throw it was bad also. Right now Sanchez is a walking disaster area. Many of the pieces around him should be condemned also but there's no question his play has deteriorated to the point that he's not even minimally effective. My guess is he's given up. He's just waiting for the hook now.
effin Mods, WTF not everything goes into this one topic thread. No one wants to read a thread that has 100+ pages. Let people start new threads and if you are running out of space or something delete some threads that are 2+ years old. Plus most of the topics that have been dumped here have different info. This board is meant for people to discuss and bitch not be shoveled into a folder. The way you are running this board you might as well put every topic into one thread called the NY jets and have it be 1000 pages longs. If I see one more thing plugged into this stupid sanchez sucks thread I am never coming back.
oh and also thanks for changing the number of posts required so I can't even bitch about this as a new thread. If someone that has more posts agrees with me please feel free to create a new thread with my rant
actually if you could read you'd know I spread the blame around but I'm not one that thinks b/c things go wrong you clean house. That type of thinking is why the Redksins are what they are, that type of thinking would have robbed the Giants of their last 2 SBs. I blame Rex, Tannenbaum, Sanchez, Woody and everyone else that deserves blame but it doesn't mean we should get rid of them. That would be foolish. you haven't run out of Namath excuses so maybe not. shhhh, don't you know a still shot w/ a supposedly open WR tells us everything? Hill APPEARS open in a still shot as Sanchez is throwing the ball to the right, that photo can be very deceptive.
LOL - on a more constructive note - maybe they could just close this thread like the game day threads and start a part II so it wasn't so long. My guess is this might get worse....
i agree gtchad. there is just that much negativity about sanchez. but in the grand scheme of things its not really that big of a deal although i hate to be following a thread and all of a sudden it is just gone because once it is merged its useless. it stops conversation. but hey its not my board so all we can do is voice our displeasure and accept it.
someone would have covered him if Sanchez looked towards him. Are you suggesting that Sanchez should somehow telepathically sense that Hill was open to his left without looking there and throw the ball while not ever looking at that direction? that's witchcraft not quaterbacking. he made the correct decision just threw the ball a little short
The first thing I noticed with this picture, is to look at Sanchez's foot placement. He's not stepping into his throw (not steeping toward his target). Regarding Hill. He looks wide open in the screen shot, but you don't know where he was when Sanchez looked his way earlier in the progression. Still pictures don't tell the whole story. Sanchez's fundamentals breakdown when the play doesn't go exactly as planned.
Telepathy? How about working through his options instead of waiting on one. If he looks at Hill and fires the defense can't cover him in time. Of course if the DBs are wearing supersonic jet packs maybe.
sanchez obviously worked thru the reads. He made the right call probably a misunderstanding between him and keller about the route. Keller always drift instead of coming back for the ball.
he has already begun to throw which will affect where a defender goes, there is a LB not far from him waiting in the middle of the field and you can't see who is to the left of the screen.
Mark has awful footwork, just by judging in that picture. He's going through his progressions, but he was far TOO hesitant.
