Woody wanted Tebow only to get the team more exposure. I truly doubt they had any intention to ever start Tebow and now it has blown up in their face. But starting Tebow would be an even worse mistake.

At this point of the season, it looks like we are playing for a higher draft pick. Just let Nacho ride the sinking ship till the end of the season, then clean house and pay Lord Revis.

In other words, this is Woody's doing.

Actually that rule was changed this year to allow the 3rd QB to play regardless. The issue is he has to use a roster spot so they aren't putting McElroy on the game day roster as far as I know. But I think they gave the teams an additional game day roster spot. If I am wrong I am sure someone will correct me.

I any event you are correct. Because they are not even dressing McElroy - Tebow is the clear backup QB because he is the only option on game day.

The whole thing seems very strange and odd to me and I have been watching football for probably more years than most of you have been alive.

If Rex thought Tebow would win games for the Jets he'd be in there.

Does anybody doubt this? Does it make any sense to take the position that Rex is protecting Mark Sanchez when in fact what he's more likely doing is putting his best chance to win on the field?

If the Jets were 5-4 right now with Sanchez playing the way he is you could maybe make an argument that Rex was going with the safer move, going with the QB he knew he could win with if not at the top levels.

But the Jets are 3-6 and they've gone 3-9 in their last 12 games now. It makes no sense to suggest that Rex is sitting on Tebow and sending Sanchez out there for any reason other than the fact that Sanchez gives him the best chance to win.

From a personal perspective Rex is safer if he plays Tebow and the Jets lose than he is if he plays Sanchez and the Jets lose. If Woody is really pushing that hard for Tebow behind the scenes then the percentage play for Rex Ryan's job security is to play him. Even if he loses he can say "we just didn't have the QB to do it and I tried both of them." (to Woody that is, he'd never throw either Sanchez or Tebow under the bus in public as is obvious now based on his comments about players over the last 4 seasons.)

The only reason for Rex to keep trotting Sanchez out there is the most logical one, the simplest one: Sanchez is the guy who gives him the best chance to win games.

This by the way is the reason he keeps stating also. You have to get way out there to see an agenda on his part on the QB decision when his most logical move is the one he keeps stating and then following up on.

This was the most prominent thought in my mind the second they announced the trade. I was all in for giving Mark another season with a new OC to prove he could be the guy, but by bringing in Tebow the FO has tied their own hands behind their backs. I honestly believe McElroy could do better than Sanchez or Tebow at this point, but now we're screwed with having to let the Tebow "era" run its course before anyone else is considered.

Talk about a quagmire. After week 10, we're practically out of the playoffs already with nothing on the horizon except (maybe) a top-10 draft pick.

This is probably true & this is the most tragic thing in this situation.
I'd like to see McElroy though

This is the exact thing that pissed off the Denver fans last year. Orton played like hot garbage and no one (save people making your argument) understood why he was starting. That sound familiar. It got comical listening to Fox tell the media week after week Orton gave them the best chance to win (he was 4-14). That sound familiar. We know how that turned out.

Look - I'm a Tebow fan but I have no desire to see him again thrown in as an after thought. I would and did prefer for Sanchez to play lights out and the whole team thrive. But that isn't going to happen apparently.

I used to believe that but not anymore...because Rex has showed he is almost to a fault loyal to his players & he is a defensive coach with very little input on the offense,if Mark was a defensive player I would see him benching him (thats also debateable) but the best example was wayne hunter...it took him a very long time to ship him out...Parcells or Jimmy Johnson would have yanked him out much much quicker...

Also Rex has a huge ego...the guy loves the limelight too much...he even wrote a book after two AFCCG losses!...he wants the band to keep playing....yanking Sanchez will stop the band in its tracks...

There's no doubt in my mind that Rex never wanted Tebow here (Neither did I). Woody will probably push for Tebow for Thanksgiving, but honestly I'd rather stay home and sleep than go to the game and see the Jets get blown out just like the Broncos did last year with Tebow as QB. Woody loves bringing in the big names to sell damn tickets but come Thanksgiving you can bet all your belongings that unless tickets go down 90% there will be no one there.

I’d rather have something to root for because rooting for Mark is not fun anymore.

I doubt it. Rex has no clue how to evaluate QBs or the offense in general. He is a one dimensional coach who is useless on one side of the ball. Not HC material.

I honestly do not believe that who gives the better chance to win has anything to do with this decision. Look at Rex's comments throughout his tenure as HC. It is his team, his way and whatever he believes and that is the only opinion that matters.

Tebow isn't an unknown quantity. Saying the starting quarterback "gives us the best chance to win" is comical (and tragic) given the Broncos situation last year. That being said, Tebow can throw the ball and has not thrown a bad pass during a regular season game this year. Again, this is the guy who comes in a few plays a game and yet he has thrown it with accuracy and good judgement.

The fourth (4th!!!!) called quick pass to the flat yesterday that Tebow pulled down and ran was a sound decision given that the defensive end was moving in to the passing lane and there was zero chance that Kerley (i think) would have gotten any forward progress as a DB was converging on him. So Tebow pulled the ball down and ran for a first.....that is a success any way you look at it.

Why aren't people all over Keller for being so undisciplined at the 1 YARD LINE!!!??

I know, first time poster, Tebow jock sniffer, i suck.....got it.

WOW - i actually thought Tebow was 8-5 as a starter last year with a playoff win over the #1 defense. Maybe not.

I doubt this big time & we should all have our bullshit detectors on high alert when listening to anything Rex says. When he talks it's just to draw attention or spin something overly positive because he thinks we're all too stupid to see his BS.

Rex stated this was the most talented or best team he's ever coached. The same guy who smugly talked down to everyone who suggested WFH sucks. Same guy who told everyone the reason we aren't seeing Tebow is because they've developed some amazing secret package playbook for him. That's just off the top of my head.

I'm sure there's people out there with better memories than me that can list more.

Thing is, as much as I like Marshall Faulk, he's talking out his ass in this clip. Saying that Rex wouldn't put up with bad QB play. He's done just that for years. I mean, someone tell me when has Mark Sanchez EVER been benched by Rex ?

It's not like this year is the first time that he's had shitty games.

I'm not sure about the rule but it was obvious as day that they went all in with Sanchez. They wouldn't pay him like a top 10 QB if they didn't think that he could progress into one. I think they badly underestimated how bad our team was coming into this year remember we had to collapse just to get to 8-8, you see how quickly they were forced to take out Wayne Hunter. He was so bad not only did he force their hand but it made it impossible to evaluate our offensive parts.

I think teams take the backup QB for granted, just look at Curtis Painter getting a free paycheck for years behind Manning, before the Colts saw how bad he was when Manning got hurt. However, I know that Woody forced the FO/CS hand, remember we already had a backup in place before we went through a retarded run around where we ended up losing a couple of draft picks.

and I suspect that Woody will force their hand again if a Nationwide embarrassment on Thanksgiving night takes place. I'm gonna be watching and listening to the stadium particularly if Sanchez shits the bed. Usually in these spots, he raises his level of play though but the fans won't be in a generous mood.

Its just mind blowing how we got to this clusterfck. Woody wanting more revenue forcing Tanny to spend less pushing Rex to work with next to nothing on one side of the ball. Only the Jets could tie themselves into a gordian knot like this.

David Carr syndrome? Trying to do too much with too little? Something went wrong and Cavanaigh and Schotty couldn't fix it. The first two who should have been able to.

Woody forced it on them, they don't have the offensive plays for Tebow, Tebow looks poor in the offense they're running, and they don't the trust the whole offense to be successful in the offense Tebow will be successful in.

Woody traded for him, forced him on the Jets, Rex BSed the move to the media to cover Woody. You can't badmouth your boss.

I think the rule was that if the 3rd QB comes in before the 4th quarter, the #1 and #2 QB cannot enter back in the game. I think they got rid of this rule.

Rex went away from his blitz happy nature to win games. He went away from his talknig to try to win. He would go away from Sanchez if he thought it would help. I don't see a guy tanking his own job security. He's smart, he gets the politics behind this.

Woody meddles and not in the good way. You can't give control to the FO/HC then randomly take it away to serve your own plan or wants
