    Santonio Holmes Future

    https://twitter.com/MMehtaNYDN/statuses/253462929242980352

Santonio is guaranteed 7.5 million next year. A few people have asked so looks like he will be back at least for next year. There is a small chance that someone needing a receiver might take on that money (Redskins, Daniel Snyder are you accepting calls) I know Snyder wanted him bad when he was a FA and that is why we overpaid for him. Maybe we can give him a good deal and get a fifth or sixth rounder back. I still think he is a good player just too much bad energy on a fairly young offense.

Easy, the offense is better without Holmes because Shonn Greene revived his career over the past two weeks.

Unless your argument is that the O-line and runningbacks just hate Santonio Holmes so much that they just couldn't run the ball with him on the field, saying that we're better off without our top receiver is just dumb.

And, for the record, I'd love to get out of 'Tone's contract. I just don't think that he's Satan incarnate like some fans on this site seem to.

Agree, Holmes still has talent, but his selfishness and attitude hurt this team more than his talent can help it. We need to find a buyer and I think there is enough value in Holmes even with what we owe him to get a 3rd to 4th rd pick or a proven receiver style RB to compliment Greene.

I think ultimately it will be best for both parties if they separated after the season.

Cutting Holmes at the end of the year and spending that $1.25 million on a mediocre WR next offseason would improve the team drastically.

I am just keeping my fingers crossed that a team is desperate for a WR and would be willing to let go of low draft pick to take on Holmes and his contract. Maybe we will get a 4th and the whole Santonio issue will come full circle.

would trading him (even for a 7th round pick), still cost us anything in cap space due to the guaranteed money?
I'd love to clear up some of that cap space for other areas.

Holmes seems like just the kind of guy who will resurface with the Pats in 3 years and absolutely kill us.

Tanny should demand he restructure. If he says no then Tanny should be willing to cut ties, eat his mistake and be done with him. It sucks to eat the money but you can't compound the error to just to save on the ledger sheet. Bite the bullet and take the one year hit. Draft a young guy and move forward who won't cost much against the cap.

His contract isn't the only issue, Holmes and his douchiness are a waste of a roster spot even if he's underpaid. Plus if he restructures his contract it would likely mean the deferment of guaranteed money into future years which would not only make him uncuttable in 2013 but also more of a cap burden past 2013.

The team is better without him. It was better back in 2010 when he was suspended too.

Tanny should bring the hammer down on him and demand that he restructure. Give some of his money to keep Keller. If he refuses Tanny shouldn't hesitate to cut him and lose him for nothing. It would send a message to him and the team. He should be on a short leash attitude wise. If he acts up after that than you can still bite the bullet even cheaper or spread that hit out over another year. Enough of his BS. Throwing the ball to the 49ers was the last straw for me.

In 3 years Brady will be a shell of his former HOF self. It looks to me like the decline has already started.

I am inclined to believe that Brady won't be playing in another 3 years.
