Can't argue against Coples. Maybin's penalty & resulting fine is total BS. Luck isn't some heartless scrub who's just gonna fall to the ground because of interception. He make movement in the direction of ball carrier & looked like he'd be willing to make a tackle. I am 100% in favor of protecting players & fines for dirty/cheap hits but I really don't think Maybin's hit deserved this much punishment.
those fines ain't got nothing to do with andrew Luck. it's about tom brady, they are trying to psych out Coples and Maybin from putting that hot sauce on Brady, that's why they waited till now to give out the fines. These psych games work the best when they are used right before the game. Pats pulling out all the stops
I don't always agree with you and often times I think you're very rude to people, but this is right on. I like the way you think.
There is something wrong with management of a sport when fines are a weekly routine, I never remembered stuff like this happening a few years back, fines seemed to be a rarity, now it is routine, and nonsensical.
The difference is the league already decided that Luck is going to be a poster boy, Sanchez isn't good enough of a QB to be a poster boy.
Speaking of which, how is it that Goodell is "allowing" Tagliabeau to hear the bounty cases, and make a decision. That doesn't make any sense to me. Who is in charge of the league anyway?
Lots of paranoia within... But Luck is the definitely the new designated golden boy to replace Brady...that's a fact. RGIII...he run too much.
They say Maybin elbowed Luck on the ground and the cameras didn't pick it up, if true fine but from what I saw it's' bull shit. Coples almost ripped his head off haha.
While I agree both fines are utter bullshit, I am in the minority I think the fine to Coples is a bigger disgrace. With Coples there is obviously no intent as he was going for a sack and got his hand caught in the wrong place. Was it a blatant penalty yes, and the Jets were penalized. If you are going to fine him then you might as well fine about 75% of the face mask penalties because they usually result in twisting the head(neck), might as well fine every horse collar too. While we are at it might as well fine every cut block, block in the back etc. With Maybin, while I still think it bullshit, one could argue he knew perfectly well what he was doing. He knew it was Luck and he was taking advantage of an opportunity to level the new poster boy of the NFL albeit on a legitimate block.
seriously tho this is kinda fucked up you dont fine a rookie for a penalty, thats what the penalty was for.
I'm going to use that All-22 film to see if I can pick up the second Maybin hit. Edit - After the initial hit when Luck was on the ground, Maybin hit him again square in the throat area while Luck was still on the ground. I see why they fined him now. That was dirty.
