The problems the Jets have as far as the running game goes is they have 2 bowling balls in Powell and Greene, which was stupid enough beyond belief to have. You need to have a MIXTURE of a speedster back AND a goal line type of bruiser.

Greene is fine as a Brandon Jacobs type who solely just goes in for TDs as a goal line back. Powell is the same way. However, having those two as our top 2 RBs is FOOLISH.

Of course Mr. T refuses to acknowledge a mistake and because Greene was a 3rd round pick and that our great GM ONCE AGAIN traded up for a talent in the draft for the ____th time rather than add depth to our team so that's why Greene's our "Premiere" back.

After promising 09 and 10 seasons l, Greene has been a major disappointment. The OL hasn't helped his cause, but he looks awful out there. No vision.

Powell and Greene run the same, give McKnight some carries and get to the edge...

Greene and Powell are similar in size but Powell seems to have a better ability to adjust runs, fine a hole, and accelerate.

Greene runs to where the hole should be, puts his head down, and tries to run people over.

The fact that they have no pass catching out of the backfield is a complete killer for this offense -- to be fair for any offense.

The RB outlet option is a QBs best friend and the Jets don't have a player in the spot. It should be McKnight.

Another game with no running game.

If I'm the coach I'm adding tebow and McKnight with some wikid wildcat schemes. If nothing else, move Tebow into the traditional running back slot.

I think it's more coaching staff than Tannenbaum at this point. Evidently Greene is the better all around player in their eyes. I doubt Tannenbaum wanting to pat himself on the back for a good draft history has anything to do with playing time.

Now, if Greene gets another contract....

Yeah a run game would definitely help out our QB. Give Powell more first down carries please.

Too bad we have an OC that selects plays from a hat. He has no clue on how or when to use his personnel.

How many times do you see confusion after Tebow or Sanchez take the field? Nobody knows whats going on 100%.

Greene gave us some good games in years past but he is just not a good back. It's time to move him out and let Powell have a chance. It's also time to start using Mcknight effectively (getting him outside - no more runs up the middle!).

This pretty much describes the Jets offense for as long as I could remember.

I think Tanny and Woody read some where that defense wins championships. So they got a defensive coach and then went about trying to recreate the Ravens. The offense has always been an after thought.

Poor drafts, with the dubious distinction of having the fewest picks over the last 5 years. The only reason I can think of why Tanny hasn't been fired is that Woody was in on the decisions. To admit Tanny as a failure he would have acknowledge his responsibly.

And my thought on Greene, he looked good when we had an all-pro line who dominated teams. In that scenario, he fit the bill as ground and pound, with LT catching the ball, or Jones sharing the load, and a defense that allowed for a low scoring, ball control type of game. The team no longer looks or performs like that leaving Greene to his current lack luster fate.

Simple answer is that the Jets FO thinks they can run GnP (Ground and Pound) with Shonn Greene, which is obvious they can't. All he does is try to run people over, which he isn't even good at. Greene tends to run to the hole he is assigned, even if their isn't a hole. He has terrible vision.

Respectfully, it's easy to "school" the opposing coach when you have a better team at every position, regardless of the play calling. I'm not defending the deer in the headlights play calling of Sparano, but Harbaugh is holding a pat hand and Sparano is drawing for an inside straight.

I don't know why this just occurred to me and I didn't see it before. Reading this forum just triggered this thought. The Jets aren't in sync. Rex wants a ground and pound offense, but they've done NOTHING for several years to get players that fit that mold. They haven't upgraded the offensive line. They haven't drafted top running backs. They're a mediocre organization at best.
