I'm actually pretty happy about this. I'm not a Tebow "fan" or "hater". But I cannot stand John Elway and his stupid smug face and how he acted so damn happy about landing Peyton because he wanted to beat teams like NE. Well how's that working out for ya?
McGahee... AHAHAAHAAHA! Nice dropped pass. I liked McGahee until he started acting like a jealous school girl last year and continued by disrespecting Tebow after he was gone.
Manning is still one of the best quarterbacks in this league. But the team he chose does not have a Super Bowl caliber roster. I think a lot of "Tebow Goggles" went on last year with everybody involved. The Broncos have a decent roster now, but it's not an "on the verge" kind of roster yet. I see them as a .500 team unless they can really get some smoke and mirrors going to hide their weaknesses.
Some on Broncos boards are saying that Manning's teammates are letting him down. Funny how they stepped it up for Tebow. But then again, isn't it what people praise Tebow for, that somehow he raises the play of his teammates? The Broncos never understood it, of course. Instead of realizing that it was Tebow's effect on their team, they thought they actually had a better team than they did, and that all they needed was a "better" QB. If they'd taken all that extra money they're paying Manning and spent it on quality receivers and shored up their run defense, maybe they would be a real contender this year. Instead, it's just a wasted year with a rented QB.
yea, the team is dogging it for the h.o.f, arguably one of the g.oa.t. super bowl mvp qb. but tebow lifted the team. atleast peyton made it somewhat respectable. or on 2nd thought maybe your right. maybe the team last year saw tebow on the field and thought" oh shit we better find another gear if we plan on winning anything" and now they are laid back a little thinking peyton will bale them out. or maybe last year was a perfect storm of crazy shit happening to raise the legend of tim tebow. for another example see Lin Jeremy i'll let you decide which one is most likely
The truth is in the middle -- not quite what you're saying, but the fans missed it, too. Some, in an excessive desire to explain away the contribution of Tebow, wanted to believe the Broncos had an elite defense and a bunch of great players around Tebow on offense. They have neither. They are a middling team at best (possibly worse), if you consider the roster quality other than Manning. He may be able to elevate them to contention, but it's not because they're roster was all set. Instead of worrying about explaining away the young Tebow's success, the should have just enjoyed it. Tebow did some great things in about 8 games last year.
That's the thing with Peyton. He now costs 19 million per year. Tebow is an very inexpensive qb but has still been able to win games. So you have a hard time building around Peyton because of the money he gets. He is a very good player. Probably was the best regular season qb ever. He's slower and older now so we'll see how he does from here on out.
Peyton didn't lose because he was slower and older today. He had a respectable game. The Bronco's defense couldn't stop the Patriots hurry up offense today.
To flajetsfan: Respectable? Do you just look at final scores or do you actually watch or at least follow the games? Against all good teams they've played so far they were pretty much out of the game in the 3rd quarter(31-7 vs. Pats, 31-11 vs. Texans, 27-7 vs. Falcons). There's something about having a high-energy, high-intensity guy leading the team, people naturally raise their levels to match the man's energy and intensity. You should see when Manning got stripped today, the team just stood on their asses looking like they were already defeated. Other than Miller, who incidentally was Tebow's most vocal supporter, there's just no fire on that team.
More than just respectable, statistically he had a stellar game, but he does take up 1/6 of the entire team's cap space.
That's misleading because each lead was brought back into question in the 4th quarter. You can't completely ignore the 4th quarter. Now the 4th quarter doesn't makeup for the fact that they got down by 20+ points, but you also can't say the games were over as they were all brought into question end of the 4th quarter. They all were up for grabs. The Broncos D struggled against the Pats like they did last year when the Pats offense was worse. They've had trouble with the Pats offense the last 3 games. I don't think it's a QB thing. Their defense has been pretty poor against NE
The game was pretty much over, but if I was going to point the finger at anything it would be A) the defense giving up a huge lead, and B) Willis McGahee dropping a key pass and then committing a crucial fumble later on. Manning looked decent, and Demaryius Thomas is getting better and better. Two weeks in a row though that DT fumbled on what would have been 40+ yard gains.
i may have stated that wrong.the point i was trying to get out is, with peyton you feel like a comeback is still doable if the defense can start getting some stops. put tebow in that game today and i am changing the channel at 31-7
