THANK YOU! I knew I wasn't the only one who saw that. I was watching the game with a friend and I said "They just let him walk right in". Ridiculous. Our defense is almost as embarrassing as our offense. 7 straight years of just complete crap offensively.
When you are on the field slugging it out against a tough team - trying your best to keep them out of the endzone and then your offense literally hands the other team the ball for an easy TD its not hard to imagine what was going through their heads. The defense quit on our offense. Or did our offense quit on our defense. Its getting hard to tell.
In fairness there is a fine line between ineptitude and quitting. ;-) Hell I quit keeping track of all times Kyle Wilson got beat.
i still can't believe he did that. never seen anything like it in all my time playing and watching football.
neither. both simply quit when they knew the game was over and all they were doing was playing out the clock anyways.
I think the offense quit first. I forget if it was after the Sanchez fumble or after the Holmes fumble, but at some point, it was clear that they had just thrown in the towel. And from that point, the defense gave in, too. I haven't been as disappointed with the defense as some. I mean, we're not as good as we need to be, but we're still a middle-of-the-pack defense. They just get thrown under the bus by the offense. Defense is always on the field, and they're constantly defending a shortened field. Tough to excel like that. Until the fourth quarter, when it was already garbage time, we had only allowed 10 points to SF. I'm not holding the defense accountable for the 6-yard touchdown drive off the fumble.
Sanchez didn't quit, because he was never on the job in the first place. He is a hollow shell. The Jets have no chance to win with him, and everyone knows it - especially the defense.
When your offense can't stay on the field and you're defense is out on the field for 37 minutes, your intensity obviously takes a hit.
For what it is worth, all 4 guys on Around the Horn laughed at Carlos Roger's comments and "Sold it".
I have seen this story in a few other places when i go to the page to check Jet news. So it does have "Legs"
I'm a true fan and I leave early if it's 35-0....so watcha sayin. This is how I can show my displeasure to ownership...and beat the traffic when I'm pissed off.
In the last 10 years there are 2 memorably depressing games for me,and both took place in Pittsburg. The 04 playoff game, and the last one. It was because i knew it would be some time before we got back to that point again. The first 2 years of this Rex team were great, but they so failed on builing on it personel wise. Very disappointing
I didn't see the game first hand (just a couple red zone updates), but would you guys who watched it agree with what he said?
I saw the game and in the 4th quarter they seemed to be shying away from tackling. Look no one ever wants to see their team quitting but the game was over and the defense was tired. The more important question is how is this team going to deal with the adversity of losing two of its best players? Are they going to start tackling like they mean it and play hard for the rest of the season?
