Plaxico Burress delivered a few more parting shots to the Jets yesterday as he continues his media tour while he looks for a job. Burress appeared on ESPN’s “First Take” and was asked if he believes Sanchez is the quarterback to lead the Jets to a Super Bowl. “They just paid him, so I think they believe he is,” Burress said, referring to Sanchez’s contract extension in March. Burress was then pressed whether he believes Sanchez is good enough to get the Jets to the Super Bowl. “I think the defense will,” he said, taking a shot at Sanchez in the process. “I think they definitely have a Super Bowl defense.” http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/jets/plaxico_takes_dig_at_sanchez_oWo2K3NOsDmFB70pwdGVEO Found this in a 2 second google search. There were a few other articles I can post. Read it and weep. I was unaware that scoring more touchdowns makes player A better than player B. This is a pathetic rationale to have when scouting a player.
Plaxico is not inked because he wouldn't fix anything. He's an old and slow player that would accentuate all the things that are wrong with the team already. His behavior off of the field would be a huge detriment also. If you'd watched him play last year you'd understand this. If you'd paid close attention to the locker room you wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole.
You make it seem like football players operate in a vacuum. They'll have equal results no matter where they go. It's simply talent and nothing else. Nothing to do with scheme or where the team wants the player to fit into that scheme. The Jets needed Edwards because they simply have no one else. He was a marquee guy with the Jets. For the 49ers he was an injured complement. Nothing says that Edwards would've ended last year with 5 catches. If they had retained his services the year could've gone entirely different. Further, if the Jets "knew" something that was so aggregious as to not bring him back, it's very likely that the exact same scenario applies to Plaxiglass. So at any rate, the Edwards thing is done. I highly doubt they'll even touch base with Plaxiglass. More than likely unless there are even more injuries what we see is what we get. And if the Jets do sign a WR, it'll be some nobody that will upset the fans, such as Clyde Gates.
Thank you. It amazes me that posters come out clamoring for a specific washed up player, that will apparently find the fountain of youth once they don a Jets jersey. There is no player out there that will fix this team right now. They have more holes than swiss cheese.
He's able to use his big frame to make plays but if you think he can still create the separation well enough to be an NFL starter I'm not sure I can agree with you.
plax, t.o., chad johnson, you name it. they have to get SOMEONE. Hill isn't ready to be an every down every game guy and Holmes might be on IR soon.
Neither of these opinions are better then wanting Plax back right now. Why is every fan of this team so incredibly negative. I don't think people realize that we face 3 out of the top 10 run defenses ( 3 out of the top 5 if you take out McFaddens 60+ yarder against PIT ). We knew this stretch of games was going to be really difficult for us, But even after losing Revis for a game, and then the season. and now losing Holmes, We're 2-2. We have a chance of making out of our first 7 games at a 3-4 record,.. Maybe even 4-3 if we can pull a tough game out against the Pats or an upset on Monday. It's easy to be negative. It's hard to be positive right now but someone's gotta do it.
I'm generally a sunshiner. I draw the line at quit though. I paid for a ticket for Sunday's game and got quit for my money. I'm pissed off. Further, there isn't one or two people you can blame for that. You can basically look across the entire roster and see what they're doing right now isn't working. How do you fix things when every aspect of what they're doing is failing?
This is a fallacy that 'someone' is an auto upgrade. All of these receivers that came in would have to learn the system, get in shape, etc. The upgrade would be marginal AT BEST. I'd rather not spend a dime on these players and give guys like Kerley and Hill a shot to see what we have for the future.
Both of his opinions are better than wanting Plax back. Getting Plax DOES NOT MAKE THIS TEAM BETTER. I cannot state this enough. Why are you in favor of a move that would hurt the team? Also, how does having that opinion (a logical one at that) make the board negative?
Exactly. Thats why I don't want either of them back. Maybe people don't trust our FO but I trust every FO is in the league. No one wants Plax. No one wanted to offer Braylon even a decent contract. He got 1 year for pretty cheap. These are all pretty big red flags.
thank god you're not the GM....Plaxico is hardly the answer and will do more harm them good from a mental standpoint. There are no FA's available that will salvage our situation. Gaffney would have been nice, which is someone i wanted signed since the offseason, but he was just picked up by the Dolphins.
Agreed, I wasn't there, but it was just as heart wrenching watching the game from home with friends etc with me. We saw what the team is capable of week 1, and then we saw where the bottom is last week. I think this team is realistically somewhere in the middle of those two teams. We've been hit really hard by the injury bug this year on offense which is killing our ability to stay on the field which in turn is killing our defense. We played a solid game through 2.5 quarters Sunday on the defensive side of the ball. Maybe i'm donning a super rose colored helmet visor but I really think the talent is on the team to be competitive,.. Definitely not a great team, But we can be competitive. We were just a handful of unexecuted plays away from being right in that game with the Niners. It was just a really large handful. The talent is there, At this point everyone on the team just needs to step up.
Why are you guys so dramatic? No one is asking these guys to "save the team" but the fact is that this team needs a WR. Hill is oft injured and hasn't been producing consistently, then our best receiver gets hurts and is possibly done for the season. Then after that we have Kerley who is a solid slot receiver, and a bunch of average at best players like Schillens, Gates. We need someone that can step in and make an immediate contribution. I would rather T.O but if they sign Plax I wouldn't mind that either.
Sorry,.. there was a misunderstanding there, I am DEFINITELY against bringing him back, I was just making a point that being so negative about the team isn't helping the situation either. We need to try and stay positive at least until the season is done, as of right now we're in first place in the AFCE. Just trying to keep the hope alive as much as possible. The Doom and Gloom around here gets old.
we need Ocho not Plax, Ocho looked good on Hard Knocks he looked fast, He might still be able to get separation, and Ocho isn't known for causing locker room problems like TO or Plax, Dude im not gonna say this again Plax bad mouthed Sanchez to everyone who would listen he will not be resigned. But with that said if we are gonna sign a guy like Ocho,TO or even Plax we need to do it today, they need to get to practice to learn the offense while there's still time left. I don't get what Tanny is waiting for who is gonna play WR??!??? Hill is hurt, Holmes is done. So that leaves us Kerley and Schielnz what the fuck is the front office waiting for. We sign a FB instead????
as idiotic as our front office is, I have to believe that there is a damn good reason that Plax isn't on the roster and that the Jets have shown zero interest in him.
believe it or not I wouldn't be opposed to Ocho at all. First though, I'd like to give guys currently on our roster a chance to emerge. I'd take him over both Plax and TO.
