Watching the game with my dad this weekend, he kept yelling "sloppy tackling" (he pretty much always does whenever someone gets by) but your statement was my argument also. "They cant tackle, because they're too slow to get there and put their bodies on the guy" You can teach technique, but not speed.......sad but true.

Yeah, but a safety being the difference in stopping the run ?????

We were 9-2 when we lost to the Pats, on a multi-game winning streak, and had 3-4 thrilling come-from-behind wins.

    Nothing like that.

Sanders was definitely more of an upfront tackle safety, but I agree there were more factors at hand, and they also happened to have a future HOF QB to keep the ship afloat while they figured shit out.

If this was the problem we'd have some hope.

The LB's are over 30 and look it. Even Harris who is still in his prime looks down this year, probably because he has to cover for Scott and it's effecting his game.

Pouha is 33 years old. He looks 33 years old. Re-signing him in the off-season was another stupid Tannenbaum move. However it was a one year bad move because the contract is structured so we can cut him after the season with minimal impact.

The young guys are dealing with a new defense and they have slow old guys playing next to them and behind them. It's like a trap for them this year, next year the Jets will be better configured on that side of the ball. I don't expect any of the young linemen to look all that good this year because they've got dropouts all around them who will make them look worse than they are.

Both safeties are short-termers also unless Landry miraculously stabilizes and plays on the bad achilles without incident for a few seasons. Low odds there.

Revis is going to take a huge contract to bring back and now we won't know if he's 100% before he gets that contract. if the Jets let him get to free agency he is gone. Wouldn't you be jumping ship on this mess?

The thing that has Rex down right now is that there is literally nothing he can say or do to fix this season. That's a horrible position to be in as a fairly prideful defensive coach. He's very proud of his top 10 defenses and there is no way in hell he gets there this year. He's going to spend the whole season fighting to not be bottom 10.

That by the way would be a hell of an accomplishment. If the Jets are even close to the middle of the league on defense this season with the talent dropouts on that side of the ball it will mean Rex and the coaches have done the best they could with a weak hand.

This team. BTW. could easily be a bottom 10 team overall for the next few seasons. Things don't get better next year they get worse, because the Jets are short depth everywhere and the dropouts on the field this year will be off the roster next year with pennies to sign replacements.

Great coaches prove they are great during times of adversity.

We are going to see what kind of coach Rex is.

If Rex knows we suck just because we lost 2 players, then he was delusional to think this was his best team ever. He should be fired. Actually, he should be made to watch his defense get torched every week while we fight for the worst record in the league. He and Tanny built this mess so the should watch it implode!!

The funny thing is it wasn't the loss or being the first team to get shut out that bothered Rex it was the fact HIS DEFENSE gave up 34 pts, couldn't tackle, and got run on like a bad division 3 team.

I agree, I can't think of a better punishment then to see him have to watch his beloved defense get eaten up for the rest of the season. Unfortunately this isn't going to happen our schedule is to weak. Good teams magnify how bad this team is. This is Rex we are talking about. The next win he gets he'll be back to the same old Rex writing checks he can't cash and talking smack.

What a load of tripe, I have my issues with Rex but I don't think for a minute he doesn't believe in this team and doesn't think he can take this team to the playoffs.

If this team makes it to 8-8, is this season considered a success? I obviously want more, but I think it has to be. We have no offense, and have lost our 2 best skill players. And I don't think 8-8 is that far out of the realm of possibility (but I could also see 5-11 if things keep getting worse).

Isn't this the same team he was calling the "most talented team he has coached" this off-season? are they underperforming or was he talking out of his ass?

This is what is so frustrating with this team, they address their biggest problems with piddly practice squad players. It's like watching a house burn down and trying to put blaze out with a cup of water, brutal.

Tannenbaum is the main problem. Rex is the second problem.

Woody needs to clean house, but that won't happen because he's in it for the money and not the trophy. He rather vote for Romney to win than his own Jets to win.

I blame Woody and Tanny. This team has needed a pass rusher since Bradway was the gm. Yet this STILL hasn't been addressed.

They go out and give up a 4th round pick for Tebow. If you wanted to give up a 4th round pick why not instead pick up a serviceable number 2 receiver. Nope they only cared that Tebow would bring attention to the team.

None of the guys we drafted in the last 2-3 years have broken out and become stars.

Now Woody is being cheap and how can you win with that type of philosophy?

As far as everyone saying the defense was so shitty and gave up 34 points let's remember that even with Sanchez's terrible play, it should have been 7-3 at halftime (if sanchez doesnt run with ball like loaf of bread and fumble). Instead, yet again, the other teams gets a short field and scores. We've all seen this movie before, including the defense. The offense has to do *something* to inspire the defense and give them a chance. When the offense has no time of possession, goes 3 and out half the time, and turns the ball over the other half of the time, the defense is only going to hold up for so long. They certainly missed their fair share of tackles and didn't play great, but the defense kept them competitive for 1/2 the game while sanchez and the offense did nothing.
