I just saw that the jets brought Aaron Berry ( lions ) in for a looksie yesterday,,,,,,,,we need a cb badly--IMO
Tanny has done a worse job with the Jets this year than Obama has with the Country....actually its a close call
Unless I missed something I don't think the part about another team picking him up is correct. I thought the Jets just cut him from the PS? I do think this is another "no big deal" type of move. He'll likely be back on the PS sooner than later. The Jets are always tinkering with the tail end of the roster and the PS. I think that's a good thing.
Wow, fans can really act like assholes at times. Wes Welker? Get on another team and become a star? Let's go in chronological order: If he was really that good he would have been drafted before the 7th round. If he really was that good he would have actually made the Jets, considering there is nobody worth anything after Holmes, Hill and Kerley. If he really was that good he would have been signed by a team when cuts were made. And if he really were that good, another team would have signed him off the Jets practice squad. I hate to break it to everyone, but there is a possibility that he just isn't as good as you think.
I agree. sounds good man. Welker went undrafted. Welker was cut by his first team after week 1. Welker passed through waivers after he was cut by his first team.
This FO are nuts tanny constantly get criticised for not drafting well in the later rounds and lets Ganaway and White walk and he nearly lost Allen from this draft alone. Just goes to show this FO treat anything after round 3 like a lottery, can someone clarify the difference between Clyde Gates and Jordan White and why he deserves a shot over White.
Just looked back the history of Jets draft since 2006. (T-Bomb's first year as GM). 2006 was a huge aberration; they had obscene 7 picks in the first 4 rounds - true, they traded Joan away for Mangold, and Herm resulted in another 4th; and Eric Smith pick was a compensatory pick. Excluding 2006, Jets average less than 3 picks in top 4 rounds. (16 picks in 24 spots. Not good.) That is about good 6~7 able-bodied youngster we are talking. Especially, if you consider that it takes good 3-4 years of coaching and experience to bring them up to the starter quality, this essentially equates to 4~5 starters - exactly what Jets are missing, just in case you didn't realize.
Why is it that fans of all teams always do this? You take the exception to the rule, and pretend it is in fact... the rule. How many 7th round/undrafted guys have there been?... thousands? tens of thousands? How many of those turned out to be like Wes Welker? You can probably count on one hand, maybe two. Yet people want to pretend as if they've always found the next one. I see the same with Bills fans year after year. They attach themselves to some undrafted, inspirational guy and actually convince themselves he's going to be the next coming. I liked White coming out of college. I think he should be able to make an NFL roster and contribute. But Wes Welker? Come on.
Wayne Chrebet Tony Romo Jeff Saturday London Fletcher Priest Holmes Rod Smith Adam Vinatieri Arian Foster James Harrison Antonio Gates Joe Perry Kurt Warner Warren Moon John Randle I'm pretty sure no one on here has 14 fingers, so this would be a list I couldn't count with 2 hands. Oh, and there's MANY more that are not listed
You missed Cris Carter - and he is a hall of famer too. Or Jim Leonhard and Bart Scott both went undrafted - and did a serviceable job for a little while, before fading out.
not to get off topic, but as of now, the 2012 Draft class was a complete waste. Coples barely sees the field, Hill is already injured, Tebow is a gimmick and everyone else is cut. Super talent evaluation football decisions and luck for the Jets. Can I hijack with a "Tannebaum Must Go Now!".
I must say after 3 weeks, why the hell did we trade for Tebow? I'm still waiting for him to do something! Did he sell one hell of a lot of shirts or something?
Oh I know there are a lot more. Just listed the ones off the top of my head. I know I must have missed a bunch. Just trying to get the point across LOL
When I said one or two hands I was talking about WRs. But anyway, if you want to analogize White to the less than 1% of players who go from undrafted to the hall of fame then be my guest. But forgive me if I think it is both laughable and a tad ridiculous. Every team has 8 of those players on their practice squad. They all have talent. They are there for a reason. Are they all the next coming?
