If the Jets put up 28 points like your link provides (Sanchez throws 3td's), they can play without Revis.
It's gonna be tough to win without Revis. If we get a good consistent pass-rush and our offense plays good, especially Sanchez, then we can win. Don't really see it happening on a consistent basis though.
He missed 5 games in 2010 and we won 3 of them..the two we lost were Baltimore (10-9) and Miami (10-6)..yes we can play without him and hopefully we will.
The 2010 team was just better all around than the 2012 team appears to be. Sure we can play without Revis, but the transition from a top 5 corner in football history to the Wilson/Lankster/McKnights of the world probably won't be smooth.
We re-signed Jason Taylor? BTW, Revis played the first half and our offense isn't putting up 28 any time soon. I don't see Buffalo on the schedule until December 30.
We can play w/o Revis. It'll be tough. It'll force a change in strategy - which may end up being a good thing. I'm very excited to see what Rex puts together now that we will not have Revis. It really can be a good thing.
Winning without Revis has more to do with Sanchez & Greene. Losing Revis basically spots the other team 7pts (at least). Gotta have sound ball control to keep Joe McKnight on the bench and Mark has to make good on red zone opportunities. But you're right....IF IF IF Mark can put up 28pts/game and we control time of possession, it may become 'Revis Who?'.
He only missed 3 (Mia, Buff x2) full games in 2010 and we won all of them. He also missed about half of the first Pats game after he pulled his hammy and we won that one as well. He was there vs. Baltimore week 1 and the score of the Miami game without him was 31-23.
We can win, sure, but we need the offense to step up pretty big. If Revis prevents at least one TD and a few first downs, maybe a field goal as well and our defense can't make up for that that's not the issue, the defense shouldn't be expected to play at the level they did while they had one of the best defense players in the league. What should be expected is that the offense picks up the slack when the defense is hurting. Much like if we lost Sanchez or something, we can't expect the offense to be as good as they were without him so the defense would have to pick up the slack.
Unfair to compare the 2010 Jets to the 2012 Jets. That 2010 Jets team had something special. The defense was much better that year
This is a great audition of whether the Jets can win without Revis. If the Jets win more than they lose, I'd look to trade Revis for two early picks. Not only would the Jets have the potential to replace him with two young low salaried studs, but the cap savings would allow the Jets to sign two or three quality FA's. IMO no CB should be paid more than your franchise QB.

9 of the last 12 Super Bowl winners didn't have a shutdown corner playing in the game. And I'm loosely defining Charles Woodson as a shut down corner when in fact he's really a playmaker not a shutdown guy.
he played in the Baltimore game and we beat Miami w/o him. he missed the first Miami game, played in the 2nd won that we lost. he missed the 2nd half of the NE game which we trailed 14-7 when he left and won 28-14, he missed the 31-23 win at Miami and the 38-14 win at Buffalo.
woodson was never a shutdown corner, I think he's one of the more overrated cover corners in the league but he is a heck of a playmaker.
If the Jets offense steps up, then we can win without Revis. The offense has been hit and miss this year so far, but that's to be expected because (i) you have a new offensive system, (ii) the offensive line has changed its blocking schemes, (iii) Keller has been hurt (iv) Sanchez is still learning some of his new receivers and (v) one of his starting receivers is a rookie. Just give it some time. I think that once the Jets offense has some time to gel they'll start putting up a lot of points. Remember that if it weren't for 9 dropped passes the Jets would probably have put up some real points on the Steelers D. Just be a little patient.
IDK.. Offense: RB: 2010 was better with LT WR: 2010 was better w Cotch and Edwards. Defense: how was 2010 better? C Pace? I think 2012 has better DBs. Did Jenkins even play a full game? ST: Leonhard and Smith vs McNight - Kerley Weatherford vs Malone. Was Brad Smith a difference maker? Hopefully Tebow will produce.
