Really, I mean teams move guys around on the O-line all the time and nobody thinks anything of it, but the the minute you talk about using an RB as a CB or a CB as a WR it's something to be concerned about? These are all football players, and the physical attributes necessary for one position can usually be transferred to another position. Okay so you're not going to make a WR out of an OG, but you can certainly make a CB out of a WR, and in the case of McKnight I can see him doing quite well as a CB if he concentrates on it.
Did you see that big yrd gain using Tebow and McKnight package? i'm surprised the Jets didnt build on that.
during the labor dispute last year they were talking about all the numbers. i fell into that trap too because we always see those elite guys staying around for a long time, but with the number of running backs in the nfl, those are the exception not the rule.
I don't think it is as clear as day. They have a new offensive coordinator. Sometimes it takes a while to work out the kinks.
I don't think it is crafty, I think it is desperate. As a previous poster noted, this isn't HS or college--moving to another position, especially CB IMHO, is damn near impossible without a significant effort. Hell, why do you think there are so few really good CBs in the league? If it were such a breeze more people would do it, but even the players who've played the position from day 1 struggle and most are merely satisfactory. No, unless they have been training him substantially behind the scenes, this is pure desperation. Even if they have I think this is still a tremendous longshot and smells of reaching to make up for our glaringly apparent lack of depth.
Oh yeah? So you were at the practices and met with the coaching staff to evaluate players? You see the action and success of McKnight in practice? You have a better idea than professional coaches and scouts? So many fucking internet GMs these day. Why haven't the Jets hired you? You're clearly a huge expert on talent evaluation.
A new offensive coordinator who was previously an offensive coordinator for the team. In a year BTW in which Welker scored 3 TD's.
Meh. Another gimmick move. Tryna outsmart everyone instead of Tanny addressing issues. Cant blame Rex tho. The guy is there only being used for special teams, n if he waits for Tanny to make a move to address it, he will be looking for a job before that happens. Im sure the know it alls will get on me but im really just hopong for a high draft pick at this point. This season was already looking sketchy to me. Revis ACL just cemented it. Until we start tackling our most important personnel issues, we will only go but so far.
They aren't doing a very good job fazing him out. He's been the top receiver yardage wise for two of the first three weeks.
What an over-hyped move, this is a third string running back being moved to play 4th/5th string corner, he will see the field just as little as he did before, hardly news worthy. If any other team moved their 3rd string RB to play 4th/5th CB it would barely be in the news. Gotta love the NY media and their way to turn small things into big stories.
According to WFAN "McKnight less than enthusiastic over the move". Wow that's not a good thing... Hey McKnight! Would you rather be out of football because you couldn't make the roster as a runningback? The coach offers you a shot at making the team as a corner and you're "less than enthusiastic" about it? Maybe you'll be more enthusiastic selling cars for a living? Wow!
I think it's more about him getting limited opportunities on the field of play to prove his worth as a RB, but if you don't put in the time on the practice field than you don't deserve that shot and therefore you've failed at the position. He needs to man up. He seems to be acting like a rookie again.
This is another one of those cases where because it's the Jets it's automatically a move doomed to failure but when Billy Boy did it with Julian Edelman and I think Troy Brown too (switching from WR to CB) it was a genius move. To be fair, Billy Boy's more likely to use these guys to their best ability and get them up to speed enough not to embarass themselves than our organization but still. That's because he's not good at drafting defense, not because he doesn't give a shit. He's had more than enough high picks of defensive players that busted. And the one real big-ticket guy he signed in free-agency (Adalius Thomas) got hurt and busted.
SF is not very good on punt or kick coverage. We may hear McKnights name mentioned on the highlight shows Sunday night because he's taking one to the house on these clowns. Kerley got one on a punt and now it's McKnights turn on a kick
explain why his snap count has dipped to edelman and why the paid a hern top dollar when they have gronk on the roster? also, this is more an indictment on the other receivers doing jack shit IMO. welker only went off on monday because edelman left the game.
