What does everyone think about our top secret Wildcat we kept under wraps until the regular season? Every time we put T-bow out there I can see the fear in our opponents eyes. :breakdance:
They dont have a clue how to use him. If they did he would drop back and take off running after the defense has a chance to spread out. Also he should have thrown by now.
I feel bad for Tbow because at least in Denver they knew how to use him properly. Here he's a gimmick and a decoy here. Don't get me wrong I don't want him here or to get more playing time but he's a good guy, he should have gone somewhere else.
Sparano in March: we did whut? Rex: Just play along with it, trust me. Sparano: But how am I supposed to install two new offenses at the same time? Rex: Just play along with it, it's how we do things here, trust me. Sparano: Do I need to setup a wildcat package for Tebow? Rex: No, don't worry about it. We've had guys playing a few snaps of wildcat every game since I've been here. Just play along with it, trust me. Sparano in camp: Are you sure about this? We could do a small package for him. Look at all the WR's angling for IR already. Rex: No, don't worry about it. The offense hasn't worked perfectly since I got here. We'll figure it out during the season. Just play along with it, trust me. That's gotta be how it went.
To be honest I am quite unhappy with how he's been used. I thought yesterday would be a game in which they took advantage of a bad team. My thoughts are kind of contradicting in that I think they are waiting until the season goes on a little more to fully use him but at the same time you can't put the team and him in a position to fail. That was the option play yesterday as well as the play on 2nd and goal before Sanchez threw the pick. Tim had nobody to throw to on that side of the field so as we saw the play had minimal chance at working. I will say this though, I have been quite impressed with how he has handled this whole thing. He doesn't get down when they pull him down and he seems genuinely excited when he gets his chances. I just want to see them give him some chance to throw.
They need to clean the pipes out by just letting him bust it for a few games. Just direct snap and truck somebody. That's when the defenders start getting easier to fool and to freeze -- when they're thinking in the back of their minds, "I'd better lock in the haunches, in case there's a load coming my way. Don't want to be on the poster."
It's like they put him out on the field without any well conceived plan and are waiting for the magic to happen. At Denver he had a defense who could shut down the other team offense. An offense that ate clock, didn't turn the ball over, and played field position. By the 4th quarter after the other team was worn down, anything could happen and it usually did. Thinking any of that would magically happen here... The Miami game was embarrassing how they used him. It was clear he wasn't going to throw or catch the ball. Just a decoy that no one paid attention to.
they have nothing, i really thought they were going to do something with the kid but at this point its all been bullshit. there is nothing opposing defense can't handle coming from the tebow package. keep him on the sideline and try to develope him because he doesn't add anything great run on the fake punt though
I think you nailed it, I'm no Tebow supporter but I want the Jets to win. I'm a Jets fan first and foremost but they were essentially wasting downs yesterday and I think a lot of that stems from the fact that teams know what he is doing when he gets the ball.
I give credit when its due. As soon as saw him being put on the kicking special team in preseason, it was just a matter of time. Tbow is perfect for this type of play.
I agree: I disagree: Like most people on this board, above all, I want the Jets to WIN. Unlike some people on this board, I believe Tim has made, is making, and will continue to make net possitive contributions to Jets' Ws. Currently and thankfully, the 'Tim debate', relative to the Jets winning, seems to be trending toward more serious comments than in the past. What the plan going forward is or should be, is obviously open to interpretation. What doesn't seem to be open to interpretation is, the Jets NEED playmakers ON THE FIELD, NOW. We've had decent results so far (2Ws, 1L) but due to injuries and some performance weaknesses, it's becoming increasing clear that if something isn't done right away, the likelyhood of Ws vs Ls trending down is high. My objective in making this comment is to show my support for those that believe Tim makes a net positive contribution to Jets' Ws and that Tim is being used incorrectly. I'm not really interested in joining a pissing contest about the particulars. Rex and Tony are the deciders and the Jets' W vs L record is ultimately the measure of their decisions and will only become known and factual as each game is played. What I am interesting in is making what I believe are reasonable observations and throwing my opinions out there for anyone interested. To date, my observation about offensive coordinators Tim has played for, with one exception, is that they suck. IMO, Dan Mullen, currently the HC of Miss. St. (we Gators call them less Miss.) and was the OC on the Gators' 2006 national championship run, was the best and called plays that best use Tim's skillsets. IMO, unless and until someone figures out how to use Tim, arguably a solid impact player then the Jets are NOT doing all that is available to them to get Ws. I will continue to look for reasonable and respectful discussions on this board that addresses Tim's potential for making positive contributions to Jets' Ws.
Considering the way they have used or should I say misused him - they would be better off just sitting him and putting 100% into the regular offense. Let him learn on the sideline if they even have any intention of developing him. Right now they are not looking very good with the whole surprise package idea and they are not doing him any favors throwing him out there as a decoy which team are probably not paying much attention to at this point.
It's even worse. Denver DIDN'T really know how to use Tebow last year, yet managed to be more effective and made better use of him that Sparano has done so far this year.
For the most part, it happened by pleasant accident at the end of games, because they had no other choice. I suppose the thinking is/was that that kind of approach is not sustainable for 60 minutes, because there's no way Tebow would have the energy, or absorb the wear and tear. It's something you can only blitzkrieg in short spurts. But that makes it all the more puzzling -- the Jets are in the perfect situation to do it, because he doesn't need to last a whole game. Just go nuts a couple of times a game. (Even once a game would be cool).
There is no fear but two of the three teams burned unnecessary timeouts when he stepped on the field.
i will say, the play where he got hit in the head with the ball could have been something if he catches that and breaks a tackle anytime him and sanchez were on the field together after that would have had defenses paying more attention to him. really missed an oppurtunity there
