Jets must be more productive on offense. As I see it, our defense may be able to hold the opposition to 17 points. I believe the Jets can make that number stand-up by protecting the ball on offense and kicking the long FGs when they are there. I believe: - that Chad's good for leading at least one TD drive per game = 7 - that Chad can also drive the O to attemp one chip shot FG = 3 - that between our defense, specials, and offense, Jets can move the ball inside the opposition's 35 yard line another 5 times a game, giving Mangini the opportunity to send his kicker out to attempt 5 field goals of 52 yards or less; - that with Nugent understanding that he will get at least 5 shots each week to hit long range FGs, and that he only needs to convert 3, that he will relax and become proficient, 3 x 3 = 9. TOTAL = 19
I follow your thinking, Sour, but we need to score more than 19 per game. What deflated me more than anything else on Friday night was what looked like a return to the same old, same old. Three and out, then punt. Defense on the field with their tongues hanging out (and this time, without any pass rush). We eventually get the ball back, get something of a drive going, but then stall with a three and out again. Or we get to the red zone and don't get it in. Defenses have Penny's number. You take away a HUGE part of your offense if you have no deep threat. And you take away a HUGE part of your defense if you have no pass rush. I'm afraid it's going to be a long season.
good planning prolly only way it will work. after hating the bucs for so long now I know what it will be like to be a Bucs fan before the Gruden era. where football games consists of a shut down d and Gramatica leading the team in scoring. ahhh, end it now. cause we dont even have the shut down d yet.
this is as foolish as going through the schedule before the season starts trying to figure out wins and losses
I don't want our kicker hitting only 3 of 5 week after week. Who's ever heard of a successful 60% kicker?
I don't really agree with the 'plan', but i do think this will be the season we get to see if our boy Nuggent was worth that 2nd rnd pick. He will have some opportunities.
