Unplug the PS3 and get back to me, takes more than Revis to cause a meltdown that we saw today. Nevermind that Pittsburg was playing without Harrison, Troy, and a starter on the OL. They overcame injuries, we did not.

no it wasnt. The difference was not tackling the QB on 3rd down when he was in the clear.

    Agree with JonnyD

That's the truth. You can't blame this on just one player being out, even if that player is effing awesome. When Tebow joined the Jets, everyone stressed that point - you know, the point that it's not just ONE PLAYER who makes the team. Or one QB. You can't have it both ways, guys - this was a team effort and the team broke down today. Nobody was catching the ball! I'll say it again: Tom Brady could have been the Jets' QB today and all of his passes would have been dropped, too.

Revis keeps the game closer, which helps playing calling and makes their defense adjust to the situation

Revis is big for our team as a whole dont get why people dont understand this, look at every other corner in the league hell Nnamdi got raped by Jacoby Jones today, Revis makes shit happen

Don't think it has much to do with Revis but outside of McIntyre our entire LB Corp looked like dogshit. If our LB's make plays the loss of Revis is compensated. Bottom lie is we were missing our best player and nobody stepped up.

Football is a team sport so it's impossible to say he's "the" reason.

But, denying that his presence would have stifled the Steelers' offense more than they were today is a miscalculation of how an all time great can affect the flow of a game.

First, Revis limits his assignment, no question. Also, his presence allows the safeties to help out the other corners more, so the other WRs plays are more tightly contested and more than likely result in fewer completions. Thus, Ben misses more than he did today. Look at his numbers from this game and other games he has played against us. Consequently, the offense is looking at better field position, and if they don't score then the ST puts the Steelers' next position in an unfavorable spot. It's all intertwined and conjecture, but it's conjecture based on seeing Revis impact a lot of games now. To deny his impact on the game and just focus on the offense is errant. A HOFer changes the game today. Not saying we would've won, but I'm sure the TOP would have been different, and thus the D more fresh towards the end.

Bottom line: I'm confident that this result is not representative of how we will play if we play them in January. Remember, just because a team beat you once doesn't mean they have your number. Any given Sunday.

If Revis played he definitely would have made this a different game, but his absence did not take away from the fact that we could not sack Ben when he was in our grips (literally) and could not move the ball offensively on 3rd down/any down for that matter.

Jets with Revis last week: 28 points allowed to an inferior offense.
Jets without Revis this week: 27 points allowed to a superior offense.

    Really big difference, huh?

Not sure what game you were watching. Have you ever played football on any level?

Are you dim? Did you actually watch the last two scores by the Bills? Or perhaps more pertinently, did you notice the strategy of the defense the entire second half? Prevent D, then Revis got hurt.

Did you notice this week how the Bills scored at will on the Chiefs?

    It wasn't the difference.

Not even close -- where do you get such inane ideas?

That's like me saying we lost because weatherford is no longer the punter...

Could the Packers win more than a few games if Rodgers went down for the season? HELL NO. Some players are more important than others, Revis happens to be the most important defensive player in the NFL.

Come on dude, Harrison is coming off knee surgery. Even if he played, he would have been at like 20%, it probably would have been better for the Jets if he played. I feel pretty damn confident with Brick blocking Harrison when Harrison is at 20%. They missed Troy, but they have depth. Mundy is a very good back up safety, we don't have that kind of depth. Our CB's got exposed today, their safeties didn't. That shows that Revis is more irreplaceable than Troy. Its not an excuse to say that its going to be alright because Revis will be back soon. No, we played like shit and deserved to lose, but when Revis comes back, I doubt we will see such poor play from CB's the rest of the season.

even if Revis had played i doubt we would have held Pitt to 9 points or less.

Buffalo scored most of those points in garbage time when Revis was out of the game. I don't know how often you watch the Jets play, but the difference between a Jets defense with Revis and a Jets defense without Revis is night and day. I barely noticed we missed Bryan Thomas. He can be replaced, sure he probably is our best option at OLB besides Pace, but he isn't the best defensive player in the NFL.

Our CB's were worse than I have ever seen these guys play. Why? I am not going to say its 100% because Revis didn't play, but it certainly was a factor.
