The Biggest plus from our game on Sunday, by far, was play calling and execution. For the first time in awhile it looked like everyone on the Offensive side of the ball knew exactly where they were going and executed accordingly. Unlike the days of Shitty we did not have receivers running into each other or doing short curls in front of the marker on 3rd down. Everything about the offense has me excited. For once, it looks like we spent the off season properly preparing.

I hope you all stay this positive when our offense plays like shit becuase it will happen. Every team in the nfl will eventually struggle on offense. Not always gonna click like it did against Buffalo. We are gonna beat Pitt's ass btw

This should be renamed the overreaction thread. One game and you guys must be so excited. It's really quite amusing. Since when did playcalling and execution become the same thing? notice: biggest plus (singular) = playcalling and execution. Should that be one word? Kind of like playcallingexecution? Playcalling and execution are two different parts of the game. It's the difference between design and putting that design into effect, for that matter with some degree, usually, of improvisation. Now of course Karl Marx used to talk about the dialectical unity of theory and practice, but that is something he recognized meant that such unity required putting theory into effect. Theory is not the same as practice. Playcalling and execution are two different things. Now OF COURSE it not only fair but proper to point out that coaching IS part of putting theory into practice. But it is not the coaches who literally do that. It is the players who do that. The coaches help the players by telling, showing, them how to do that. But they don't do it themselves. And OF COURSE playcalling leads into execution, can help execution, and bad playcalling can even virtually make execution in any positive sense impossible. But they are not the same thing. Now how do you separate Schotty himself from Callahan's being gone, too, and what that meant about the OL and the blocking schemes. Hill's presence on the field. Howard replacing Hunter. The field position the D gave the O. I can go on and on, but the simple answer is you can't. But if you guys want to jack off one game into the season about Schotty, go right ahead. It is as amusing as it was predictable. After all, seeing someone equate playcalling and execution is pretty funny. playcallingexecution. Gotta love it.
No Hunter is the biggest difference with our offense. Mark went from running from his life always looking over to see if he was about to get crushed to having all the time in the world. 0 sacks not much pressure. Sanchez looked very good today. Combination of having more time plus confidence and another year under his belt. He looked very accurate and his ball had a bit more zip on it from putting on some muscle. Finally a wr who can stretch the field. Hill looked great day 1. Santonio had some room to work with and I think a couple big passes to Santonio were left out on the field including that almost touchdown. I do think the play calling was improved. We never abandoned the run game so defenses still had to stay honest there. I think Sparano in first game did a better job than Schotty would but its not like the only reason our offense played well was because a change in OC.

What you didn't include there was: 3 INTs by Rams D. Sure. One was a pick-6, and one was INT at 1 yard line. Still, both yielded pretty decent field position (one at 36, the other at Detriot 40 somewhere.) So where did that lead to? Yes. 30:03 time of possession, and 2 FGs. If the defense 1. scores TD for you, and 2. give you two more takeaways, YOU'VE GOT TO DO BETTER THAN 6 POINTS. But then, that's not what Schottenheimer offense is all about, right? He is not at fault under any circumstance anyway.
WELLL LADI FREAKING DA! I guess somebody is upset that Schotty isn't still here to ineffectively execute personal play calling or fail altogether collectively. Perhaps, some fans enjoy the entertainment and predictable play calling of our former offensive coordinator. On Sunday, however, it was fun to watch play calling and execution or execution and play calling or playcallingexecution execute plays effectively. We moved the chains on almost every possession, we picked up first downs on third downs, we ran the ball with prowess, efficiently, effectively, accordingly, cohesively and successfully. Play calling and execution separately in proximity. It was crazy and fun and who knew on Tuesday we would get a little theory lesson on dialectical unity. Win for everyone :up:
Ha! If darksiders couldn't wait past preseason game 2 to declare the season dead, there no reason positive people shouldn't be happy and excited about the future of the season.
I wouldn't call it a lesson, just a reminder. Everyone knows what Marx said, I always thought. But seriously, you got caught with your pants down. You're a big boy - you can admit you misspoke, equating playcalling with execution. It won't hurt, that much.
I can't remember the offense ever looking as good with Schotty as it did Sunday ... maybe a couple of the Favre games when we were using Favre's dumbed down version of the offense, but at best, it was RARE to see the offense look that good under Schotty. If Sprano's offense can look the way it did Sunday on a fairly consistent basis we've clearly made a huge upgrade. Only time will tell, but it was obviously a very promising start.
It's amazing the circle jerk people will have when the offense beats up on a very bad bills secondary. Not saying there's not much improvement between now and last season but really? After one game sporano is proclaimed a messiah? Just wait and see how he does when he has to play a legit defense.
