Note: I DID NOT WRITE THIS. I just think these a great read and the more fans that can read them the better. These break down the game and provide another opinion on what happened vs what ESPN tells you happened. http://thejetsblog.com/bga/bga-bills-at-jets-3/ http://thejetsblog.com/bga/bga-bills-at-jets-part-two/#disqus_thread I'm also not associated with the site in anyway. Just like other good articles, fans should read these and certain beat writers or reporters who cover the Jets. Certain quotes that stuck out to me: " I can understand people thinking they may have taken a step back (and we can’t say for sure after one game that they haven’t), but it was always ludicrous to suggest they would have fallen off far enough to be one of the league’s worst teams." "Oh, and on plays immediately after Tebow was in at quarterback, Sanchez was 4-of-5 for 61 yards and two touchdowns. That should temporarily allay any concerns that using Tebow will mess with his rhythm. Two of these were the misfire down the sideline to Holmes and the slightly off-line third down pass to Kerley in the flat, though, so we should keep an eye on that." "Other than that late run, he only had one other run for more than six yards – a driving 12 yard surge up the middle in the first half. However, he was consistent in terms of picking up yardage. He lost a yard on one play and was stopped for no gain on another, but the other 25 carries all picked up positive yardage. The fumbles have to stop, though. He eliminated them almost completely last year, so hopefully this will merely serve as a reminder to protect the ball as he did last year." "They were in a base defense for just a couple of plays." "While he didn’t play much, Dixon was a big reason behind the two biggest breakdowns of the game – CJ Spiller’s 56 yard touchdown run and his 49-yarder to set up another touchdown. Dixon was double teamed and driven way off the line on each of these plays to give Spiller a huge hole to break into the open field. Of course, it was tackling at the second level and beyond that led to these being such big plays, but we’ll get onto that later." "For Wilson, it was particularly good to see him play so well. With all the talk of the “Big Nickel” packages, it sounded like his playing time would reduce, but he was on the field for almost the whole game here. He did a good job of blowing up a screen pass and didn’t give up any big catches, although he did lose contain on one run to the edge." "Over the next three weeks, the Jets have some tough challenges ahead. As long as they remain healthy, they should be competitive in all these games, but they do have room for improvement and plenty to work on in several areas. To be saying that after a 20-point divisional win has to be a good thing…right?"
The guy over at newyorkjetscap puts out the best reviews IMO http://www.nyjetscap.com/2012_Post/jetsbillspost.html
Nice links. Too much time is wasted reading the "news" from fools putting out big/false headlines just to grab attention. Good to see there are still a few focusing on quality analysis when writing.
With all the other discussions going on yesterday, and I will admit because I have been underwhelmed by Kyle Wilson in his first two seasons, I failed to mention that I think he had a solid game against Buffalo. It wasn't so much the interception, not that that was a bad play, but he was on the field most of the game and had his head in it the whole way. I think he got himself out of position once, but that's not bad. Very encouraging. Keep it up. Given the thinness at safety, the Jets can really use consistent play from Wilson.
The thing I liked is that Revis and Wilson made the plays to pick off the passes. The Cro Pick was more of a gi-me. We will need KW, CRO, Revis, and our LB's at their best VS the Steelers this week! Oh, FUCK THE BILLS, loudmouth clowns...
