again, not trying to focus on the negatives, but I did see one play where Harris failed to tackle the runner when he should have. It happens, but ftr that was not a good play by Harris.
im not going to exclude harris from anything either. he has gotten a pass for a long time(rightfully so to an extent) but his coverage has been lousy for quite some time
Positives: Offense looked awesome. Sanchez look a liked a stud qb. I think he is going to have a great year (especially with Hunter gone). Hill rebounded nicely from a shitty pre-season with two TD's. Howard did absolutely amazing against Williams. Maybe the Jets have solved their RT problem? Negatives: I don't know if it really is a negative or more of an annoyance, but it didn't seem like McKnight was really involved at all in the game. I think he was strictly on kick returns. McKnight has too much talent to be just on special teams. He needs to get some touches in the backfield.
Other than the roughing the passer penalty he got I didn't notice him much either. I'm hoping that he has a bigger impact against the Steelers as Big Ben holds on to the ball a lot longer than Fitzpatrick, so maybe get some pressures and/or sacks.
Probably due to what the Jets expected from the Bills, and how the early big lead by the Jets probably skewed their play calls to more passes, there were very few downs where the Jets were in their base set. Thomas and Pace even lined up as down linemen on some plays. And the Jets played Wilson most of the game, as if the nickel was their base D, but they also went dime and even a seven db set. In short not much room for the DL rotation. I think that's the main reason we didn't see more of Coples.
Major con: 2nd layer could not stop the run for a short gain. To many times they ran right thur. this is only NOT acceptable but will NOT work for the rest of the year or we will be mush.
Pros: kicking the Bills fucking ass. Cons: why bother? Enjoy the win. Nobody knows what the future may bring.
Shonn Greene is just warming up as the season goes on and late in the season when people are battered and bruised is where we see Greene's true potential. I couldn't of asked for more out of the team. Pros are great team effort all around and no real stupid game costing penalties like last year. I'm excited to play Pitt and see where we really stand but if we win you know they will say Pitt is old on Defense etc
Despite his propensity to get the ball out quickly, our passrush was able to force quite a few high/errant passes from Fitzpatrick. We may not have gotten to him, but our rush was more than enough to get the job done until the game was all but put away.
Yeah I was knocking Coples, but I didn't really notice him all that much. Your explanation goes a long way to explaining that, as well as the general consensus that Fitzpatrick gets the ball out of his hands pretty fast. I'm expecting a much bigger game from Coples and crew in week 2. Ben holds the ball a lot longer, he can be pretty good at scrambling when the pocket collapses but I think Coples will get at least one sack.
