It seems that whenever the Jets are referenced in the media or spoken of in private conversation that Rex is almost always at the focal point of conversation and the team itself is usually a secondary point. Whether it be due to his bravado, the feet scandal, whatever, it seems as if Rex is the Jets and that it's not changing any time soon. What are all of your thoughts on this? And how long do you think it will remain this way? Not saying it's a good or bad thing, but I'm curious as to how the board leans on this.
He has a lot of character.Everyone knows his business. He likes to joke around and he is a media whore.I still like the guy though and think he is a defensive genius.
Rex is very much his father's son and he will never change. Neither will Rob. That is just the way it is and if he leaves NY he will be the same anywhere else he goes.
I don't really agree with this. Madden was not a national figure (even though he was very successful) until he became a broadcaster, and until he finally won a Super Bowl in his 8th season what he was known for was as the coach of a team that couldn't win the big one. The guy who was always far bigger than the Raiders team was Al Davis, not John Madden.
What does that even mean? Nobody is bigger than the Jets. Everyone is equally important. Anyone paying attention knows Rex has toned the brovado down. He's still going to be matter of fact down to earth as well. He always has been.
Rex is the face of the franchise at this point, until Sanchez becomes it, if he ever does. That is all.
I don't think Mark will ever be the TRUE face of the franchise. If our wildest dreams come true, Rex will be the guy that will be mentioned first when someone talks about the Jets. Mark would have to do some astronomical things to get past Rex.
I think the funniest thing about this is that every other team is represented by a player, the Jets are represented by their coach.. albeit in animated form. Speaking of which, would a Rex Ryan cartoon be appropriate for kids?
exactly how rex wants it.bill parcells was the face of every franchise he was with too. he is the authority,he will dictate what is said and he will take the slings and arrows when they come at the team
Rex reminds me a lot of "Buddy Ball" (think Iggles). At least when folks see Rex or hear Rex speak, they think JETS.
NO woody and tebow are BIGGER then the JETS, major problem there . . .the media taking EVERY quote and jamming up the JETS asses majoe problem there, "can't get ENOUGH Tebow" MAJOR MAJOR problem there . . . . you guys git the idea and see where the problems really lie
That really is a great point. It opens ones eyes as to how impatient we are today. We all want it now. If we can't have it we'll flush and try again.
