Linebackers are brutal. It'd be one thing if they were stud pass rushers but they're all just average in that regard. Rocks against the inside run but lack the lateral speed to go sideline to sideline so I fear we'll still struggle against speed backs. Our secondary and d-line are top notch. Overall this should be a top 3-5 defense.

Problem is it would truly be a surprise if this offense was even hovering around league average. Im still not terribly high on this offensive line, Howard had a great game but he's still a question mark. And we're still weak at the skill positions.

Rex is right it could be the best team he's coached if everybody puts it together.

    Ok.

Revis is not the leader on defense. He is however the best player by quite a bit. Having him standing next to Sanchez and talking to him sends a message to other people who might be inclined to shy away or avoid Sanchez. It sends a message to people who might infer that the defense is not happy with Sanchez. It really sends a message to anybody who might be wondering what the Jets best player thinks about having Sanchez around.

To do that while Sanchez and the offense are having trouble is to lead by example for the rest of the defense. That's what Revis is best at on the field and he matched it off the field.

Good point. Revis is a film geek so he could potentially be a good set of eyes for Mark watching what the opposing defense is doing and maybe seeing some things that Mark doesn't from the pocket.

Fuck Revis, he is only worth a quarter of what he thinks he is worth.

Actually, it'd make more sense if it was Rex who is doing it. Revis is a player and while his ensign is useful, it can hardly compare to that of Rex.

I never had the impression that it was Revis, that just isn't his style.

It must mean more playing time.

After two seasons of your offense keeping you out of the SB! If you don't like how your OC runs the offense you get involved and have the offense run the way you want it.

The buck stops with the HC. When the Pats make questionable calls on offense BB says that it's on him. As the head coach he has final say on every call.

So you're going on record as one of the two or three on here that think Schotty did a good job as OC and the defense failed them?

I never blamed Schotty for the Jets problems. I am saying that if Ryan is taking shots at his previous OC, then he's a dickhead, because the HC is the boss and if he really felt the offense was being run badly last year he should have stepped in and did something.

Maybe he meant "our defense would be excited about playing our offense"?

I am sure there are quite a few defenses in that boat!

I realize that Rex is making an effort to tone down his rhetoric, but the media has already painted a target on our backs.

THE BUCK STOPS WITH THE HC <--- This is the one truth that too many Jets fans overlook.

Rex is responsible for all the good things which happen on D but the offense struggling isn't his fault? He screwed that up. The offense was so dysfunctional they actually had drama with the huddle. Where was Rex when all this happened? When you're the leader that means you take responsibility even if you chose a hands off approach. Hundreds/thousands of posts to get rid of Shotty because he sucks but you almost never saw a post pining anything on Rex.

However, even when you hold Rex responsible for the Offensive struggles, he's still a good coach imho. He's turned this franchise around & is the best thing to happen since Parcells. He's not perfect & there's still room for improvement ... as evidenced by last season's failure offensively.

Agree with your analysis. I do think the LB core are good at stuffing the inside run but the problem is setting the edges. Two good things for Rex involving this group though. He's got a good looking DL & Secondary to surround them and he's only stuck for this season with the contracts in LB core.

Also, I'd be shocked if this Offense can be close to average. Unless Tebow's wildcat packages are really game-changing this O is not looking in good shape. I'd love to be wrong though.

No, I'm saying he did a good job in 09 and 10 calling plays to the teams' strengths. He shouldn't have been canned following those seasons based on the way the seasons ended. He then got all pass-happy this year which directly fucked the season up. After 6 years and never a balanced offense, it was time to move on.

I don't think the defense failed them at all. The D was put in terrible position by 20-30 lost fumbles and a boatload of picks and still was top 5 ypg.
