If I'm being honest, I think I was excited to get favre, even though I was a Pennington fan. Of course things never go right for the Jets. In my opinion looking back, with the oline and Jenkins and team that was assembled, the jets could have gotten to the super bowl with Pennington that year. A pretty weak afc that year, chad only threw like 6 picks the whole year compared to favres 22. The jets were a much better team than the dolphins who won 11 games. Playing the ravens would've been tough but that Jets team was better than the fins. Definitely would've won the division which we haven't done in 10 years....... FUCK!!! Somehow they always make the wrong decision.

You know what else was frustrating? How wide open that season was. We had a legit shot at winning the superbowl that year. Smh the jets have the worst luck.

This so much...the Titans were running away with the South so the Colts were a wildcard team, the Patriots lost Brady.

After the Jets thrashed the Titans and gave them there first loss in like week 12 I was feeling really confident, the only team that scared me was the Steelers. Then the Titans whipped the Steelers a couple weeks later (if you remember, the Titans players wiped the terrible towel on the ground)

The 2008 season we would have had a great shot to go to the Super Bowl.

Listen scro, Pennington was throwing killer picks in the 4th quarter game after game after game. His arm was shot and he had gotten predictable. Bye bye time.

I'm not disagreeing with you but at the time Chad fatal flaw was he didn't have the arm for the deep pass and the offense was uninspiring. So it made sense to get a guy who was known for his arm, a hall of famer, and a potent offensive weapon. It was a gamble with not a lot of monetary risk to get us over the hump to contend for a super bowl.

The perfect metaphor for Favre's time as a Jet, would be that picture of his "Little Brett" that he e-mailed to Jen Sterger. It was short and unmemorable.

Thinking about it now... We had Brett fucking Favre?! It just seems weird to me, kinda like it did when I woke up and heard we got him. Not good or bad in any way, just odd.

Hated it at the time. Always hated Favre - one of the most overrated players in NFL history and certainly the most self centered. Hated the way Pennington was cast to the curb for that jerk. Hated the way he blew the season. Hated that he played maybe 3 good games in 16 that year. Hated how the offense went completely anemic over the last 4-5 games. Hated how he didn't give a damn in the last game against the Dolphins. That season ended up being the most ambivalent I have ever felt about my beloved Jets because this selfish mercenary was our QB.
