Preseaosn yes. When the postseason was settled, not really actually.

No, but if you go by winning percentage that has been covered showing the Patriots play the 8-8 Jets twice while the Jets play the 13-3 Pats twice.

If you go by "experts" on tv who rate so and so schedule, the Pats are expected to win more games. You see NE @BAL as a toss up game while NYJ @BAL is more Jets are lucky to win (in eyes of the experts). So if they go down with a preconceived notion of the Pats are better (plus the Pats don't play themselves) they look at games and say "hmm Pats can win all these". Go down the shcedule of the Jets with a notion they are going to struggle you go down a very similar list and say Jets are going to struggle with these teams. It makes perfect sense, but I didn't feel like typing a paragraph out to go over it.

i really doubt we win the division, but we have improved the way to beat brady and thats to increase our middle pass rush. really, i see us being like the 49ers of last year except not as good. our defense will be the sole reason we are relevant in the league and sanchez will be much more of a game manager than a game changer. i'm fine with that, defenses can win championships (its just tougher now)

I highly doubt we win the division while Belichick and Brady are with the Pats, sad but true.

We'll have 12 common opponents. Then you have two games against SD (8-8) and Pitsburgh (12-4) for the Jets and Broncos (8-8) and Ravens (12-4) for the Pats. Still even after those 14 games. Then Jets play the Pats twice (13-3 plus 13-3 combined record of 26-6). Pats play the Jets with a combined record of 16-16 for the two games.

See why their schedule has teams with 10 fewer wins than Jets opponents? Whatever the reason may be.

The Jets could be anywhere from 5-11 to 11-5. I think a lot will depend on their first game.
0-4 in the preseason doesn't make me all too happy. The Jets have plenty of excuses so come game 1 against Buffalo the excuses run out.

what are you smoking? they could win the division even with our pick machine, sanchez, starting for them. billy boy would yank him so fast and sit him on the bench. the pats , eagles, giants have 3rd line guys on a par with our 1st string. that's the difference between their front office/owners and ours. they run a professional business, we get the amateur hour.

some are not grounded in reality. fisrt team offense can't score a single td against vanilla defenses. it takes the 4th game for the 3rd string to finally score a td against the eagles scrubs. then, we lose by 18 points to the eagles scrubs.

looking back at the giants, eagles games last year shows how far behind we are. some upgrades to the defense came in the draft, but the smell on the offense got worse, not better.

8-8 is the best they'll do, if the defense can hold up. a top-5 defense is not a good match when it has to carry a bottom 5 offense.

A bottom 5 offense! You'd lose that bet by a country mile. Get a clue buddy.

results talk, bullshit walks. this team is built defense first.

we don't have the greatest show on turf and nobody ever got sporano confused with martz.

the offense he had in dallas and miami didn't ever light up the scoreboard.
the best he ever did was when he had noodle arm after we cut him.
that was based on managing the game and winning on defense.

Looks like the sky is still falling. I didn't realize preseason results define teams. Make sure you guys build your bomb shelters. The end is near!

You are so right. Couldn't have anything to with the offensive performance between the 20's last year (while losing our best red zone target), the lack of adding a RT this year (other than a guy considered a major bust, or a castaway who wasn't considered better than WFH 2 weeks ago), depth to the OL, a mediocre running game, and WR's who can't get separation. Or, relying heavily on a rookie WR with limited catches in college, a QB that finishes in the bottom 3rd in rating every year, and giving up a draft pick for a backup QB who will take snaps away from Sanchez while the owner clamors for him over the starter. You might consider the offensive performance in the preseason in addition to that too, huh? Nah. We are holding back right? Oh wait, all those 1st team All Pro WR's have been hurt. Oh wait....double team Holmes and a LOT will fall on Hill.

Don't let those facts get in the way, right Barcs?

how'd that Pat's end up with the easiest schedule after appearing in the SB? Aren't they supposed to play the tougher teams in the opposing divisions based on record???

optimistic outlook: 3-5 going into the bye week, unless miami, who we split with last year, is actually better on offense than we think.

    Sorry. Barcs is an Ubertool.

I think the D will be very good. If the offense can get in sync and perform just "average", they could be competitive. I think a division title/AFC title/SB are out of the question. As a 30 plus year fan, that's a failure.

That being said, I hope they over achieve, make the playoffs and prove me wrong. I just hope for a fun year at this point.

i hope they prove me wrong too. as for the wc, are they better than denver, pitt, bengals, or even titans? i don't think so. heck, at this point, it's 50-50 if they are even better then the bills.

You've heard the phrase "any given Sunday"? There's a lot of variance in the game of football no matter how you look at it. Any team can win on any day. It's not impossible for the Jets to get on a role early. Yeah, QBs also never break out in their 4th year, I heard it from a reliable anonymous source.

Of course they CAN win the division. The question is, WILL they?

It all starts with the Bills, the rest is meaningless speculation. The schedule is easy enough as is. Anything less than 10 wins is unacceptable if you're the Jets this year.

To be fair, they weren't as favoured after they lost about 9 starters to IR during that season.

With the exception of a couple of teams in the NFC the AFC is basically mediocre this year. The Jets have enough personal to compete in this division this year. Close games that can go either way can translate into 6 wins or 11 wins this year. Don't see any reason to be pessimistic until at least 4 or 5 games give us the flavor of this team.

I honestly think the division is for the Pats to lose unless Brady gets hurt and Hoyer can't cut it (which he still might be able to). The only other possibility is that Buffalo gets better and the Jets, Pats and the Bill beat each other up. Maybe Miami steals a win as well. Which would create a close division where tie-breakers really start to matter.
