If Sanchez keeps throwing the back shoulder pass, Hill's going to have a lot of catches this year. Look at how much respect Gamble gave to Hill on that play.

great physical talent + hard worker= really good WR

if he's not a diva and doesn't bitch about getting the ball, he should develop into a very good to pro bowl WR.

That Sanchez hesitation throw to Hill was enough for me to feel half decent about the Jets' offense. If Sanchez has time this year and can do that consistently their passing game is going to be so much better than all the talking heads are predicting.

I've never been a huge fan of Holmes but when he's on the guy can be a game changer. And if Hill can continue to develop I really, really like that as a 1-2 punch.

And Keller...yeah he's not the greatest blocker in the world but I love him as a receiving TE.

The most important thing I looked at was how often he was targeted. That tells me he's getting seperation and getting open in space. Yea, he may have a dropping issue right now, but hey TO had the dropsies and he's one of the best receivers all time.

As long as he can keep getting open, Sanchez will keep hitting him. I think he has monster potential. And he can block.

There are definitely a bunch of people out there who just won't be happy unless we sign T.O., Ocho or Plax before the season starts. They're sketched out by the prospect of having an unproven rookie as a starter and yet would prefer to have a guy out there who has already proven that their best days are way behind them. Luckily the Jets brass hasn't seen the need to panic and sign yet another has-been. Once Hill starts making some big plays in the regular season people will give up the ghost.

Someone else brought up a good point that hit me. While everyone focuses on the negative of the drop for an INT and no TD's vs. the Panthers, Hill put up 5 catches for 68 yards including a 32 yard catch. If we consistently see numbers like that from Hill (assuming not many drops for INTs) we'll be more than happy with him year one.

Agreed. We also have to factor in what his speed brigns to the running game. If he can establish a consistant deep threat, safties are going to think twice before jumping up in run support on his side. If the kid can give us decent production in the pass game he'll help us all over.

He has talent but is very raw. I love that he does not bring the diva attitude. With our recent history (Plax, Holmes, Edwards, Mason) its nice to bring in a down to earth wideout with great potential. If he can improve on his concentration we have a secound round gem.

Reminds me of Braylon where he will make difficult catches that wow you but then you throw a perfect pass into his chest and he drops it. Hill had a good game its just the worst play of the game was his fault so it really sticks out. I liked how he bounced back after that too and made a couple more catches.

  9. He's big, fast, & physical. I've been really impressed w/ his ability to beat the jam, get into his routes & use his big body to shield defenders. problem right now is he's also using that big body to catch the football & needs to learn to use his hands better. That will come w/ time.

Heck no I am not writing this Kid off. He has fast speed and the height we need so bad. PLUS please keep our recievers for a while and not change it up so much for MS. Go Jets

Hill should be here for awhile. Kerley too. They are cheap on their contracts. We might bring in other receivers but I'd be shocked if they get traded because they aren't getting cut. Hopefully we resign Keller too.

If he catches 40-45 balls with a decent amount of them being "chunk" plays that go for 15 yards or more then that will be a major success. He will catch more in future years as he improves his route running and as he and Sanchez build some chemistry. That said I don't think his stats will tell the whole story. At a minimum if he can just get down the field with his speed that can help Sanchez read the field easier and slides coverage away from others. You don't have to be a great route runner to do that. We've all heard about his blocking as well. Expect some misfires and misreads on hot routes and some mental mistakes but hopefully he can rebound from them quickly.

    this

people keep talking about this kids hands, but most of his drops are due to poor technique and not bad hands

on the INT that he dropped, he tried to trap the ball against his body instead of putting his hands out and snatching it ... this is a technique issue that can be corrected with more repetitions. when he actually puts his hands on the ball first, he does well to reel it in

i really like what ive seen from hill

the other side to that was sanchez going back to him after that.that shows that sanchez trusts him even after a mistake.sanchez knows the drop was an exception and not the norm

He's a rookie and he's learning and he's learning in a new offense. So he's probably thinking about a lot of things and not concentrating on the ball as much as he should. When he gets more comfortable, he'll most likely improve.

He also gets open pretty well. I was worried about his route running but he has done a pretty good job. Being fast and a big target also helps so he should see a fair amount of targets. I really want to see him or Santonio break a few long ones though.

It was nice to see Holmes on the sideline helping him out, showing him how to use those hands on the crossing routes.

I have high hopes for Hill. I liked him at GT and he's a big reason I joined this board/fanbase. I hope he makes that transition, but I feel he's a good 2-3 years away from fully dominating.

yea, it was ... but i found it ironic because tone traps the ball a lot himself
