he could be a slot receiver, like wayne chrebet was. i never saw woodhead drop as many passes as some of our so-called first and second string guys have done. what good is sanchez putting a pass right on the money if the guy doesn't catch it? i remember rex putting woodhead into games at running back cause he got yards and did not fumble. which makes him better than mc knight, for example.
Pretty funny..people here hated Woodhead when he was here..called him the great white dope or something like that..where are they now?
More people were pissed they kept McKnight over him. Not me, but a bunch of people. If they view him as a significantly better 3rd down back than McKnight or Powell, it would be a good pickup. If not, pass. I think he's better than either one at the moment, but he's got less upside than either one.
You're assuming he would know enough of the NE offense to help. Clearly Belichick operates on a need to know status. hmy: Woodhead is definitely on the bubble. He's lost some effectiveness because teams have gotten used to dealing with him and there's no way the Patriots are letting Demps go.
We need another back for sure and I don't know who it should be. 2 years ago when LT shared the workload we still had a pretty good rushing team. Last year Greene didn't seem to be able to handle the increased workload. It doesn't really matter who we get but we need somebody if we want any chance of becoming a running team again. Otherwise it will be Sanchez throwing 35 times a game.
I'd be surprised if he were cut. The Pats only have 5 RBs and one FB left in camp, and I expect only the FB (Kettani) will be cut. If they really were thinking of letting him go, I'm sure they'd be able to get something out of him in trade.
This kind of thinking is ridiculous. He can either help your team or he can't. As far as BB bringing in ex-Jets to help with what the Jets do, I'd guess he probably already knew as much as they did already.
yes, this team is in desperate need of a scrappy white guy. or don't,he is not as talented as any rb on the roster right now
i will say...he would add an really interesting element in the screen game and as an option RB for Tebow.
He is a better 3rd down back than McKnight is. He doesn't fumble, has very good hands, is almost as fast (maybe just as fast), can run routes and he's smart. When he was here, he even did a nice job of chipping and picking up pass rushers, especially given his size. I never understood why he wasn't given a chance to be a PR or KO returner. One more thing... this team could use a guy like him in the locker room.
He could take Powell's job as 3rd down back and McKnight's job as change of pace back. My guess is McKnight would be the one cut as it seems the CS is not happy with his mental mistakes, fumbling problems and inability to block. Although McKnight does bring explosiveness on KRs but with the change last year to kicking from the 35 a the value of a KR has decreased.
Considering how strong defensively Rex & BB are and how often they face each other... I doubt they need players from other team to "pick their brains". Pats didn't use tricks or gimmicks to march up & down the field last season. They put their TEs on the field and created mismatches. Jets lacked the pass rush to knock Brady out of rhythm. Brady ran no-huddle and consistently called plays the Jets D couldn't stop without substitutions.
I'd take Woodhead over McKnight or Powell. If he joined the Jets right now, he'd be the RB with the best hands, best route running ability, best @ chipping linemen and most likely to pick up blitzers on 3rd down. Woodhead & Greene would be a pretty nice RB combo.
