Most run first teams have been employing 2 backs for some time now. The Jets obviously don't think they have that second guy or we would have seen more of them in the last three preseason games. If they can get any of these guys they should or they should stop saying they are going to be a running team. Actually, everything they have done in these last three games scream the opposite anyway. When your backup QB has as many yards as your "feature" back you are not a running team.

It's a lot harder to stop a run when it isn't designed to be one. While everyone is in coverage Tebow runs around frantic until he can find space. Doesn't exactly work that way on designed runs.

As far as the Tebow thing goes, who knows if dude could do the traditional rb things like block and pass protect and stuff.

Ground and pound is just a slogan. I highly doubt they will actually be a run first team. It will probably be a balanced passing and rushing attack like 2010. Remember, Sparano and Rex have said that the running game only needs to be a threat. I can't see us going back to 2009 form for running. It's not necessary as Sanchez has been developing all this time and is certainly better now than in 2009. To give him less passing attempts than 2010 would be detrimental IMO. In 2009, it was understandable because he was a rookie, but now it's his time to take the reigns.

Ron Dayne is the perfect example. Great college back who didn't even get hurt in the NFL and certainly had opportunities handed to him but never showed much.

The man was given nearly 1,000 carries in the NFL before people realized that the #'s at Wisconsin just didn't translate to the NFL.

  7. Agreed.

Teams like Iowa & MSU are a better bet. They still get those downhill strong midwestern runners..& still employ a run first pro style offense. But they also usually to RB by committe which means you get a player w/ more tread on the tires. Shonn greene is a good example

Jeff Demps did some damage on limited touches in his first action for NE.

News: Demps carried three times for 41 yards (including a 29-yard run) in Friday's preseason game against the Bucs. Demps also returned two kickoffs for 44 yards and one punt for 16 yards. (Sat Aug 25)

Spin: Demps is a work in progress to be sure, and he will need to work on his pass-catching skills and ball security, but with his speed he's a nice weapon for the Patriots and it seems likely they'll keep him around, given his tantalizing upside.

I'd love to see Tebow drill that shrimp Demps on punts.

Joe McKnight in three years has 323 rushing yards.

    Bilal Powell has 23.

If your saying we have three serviceable backs you are delusional.

We have one and he is often injured and in today's nfl one back doesn't cut it.
